HealthNet TPO
Restoring health, rebuilding communities We use health both as a goal and means: the goal is to reach accessible health care for all.
Healthnet TPO is a Dutch aid agency that restores and strengthens health care systems in areas disrupted by war or disaster. In these areas people are facing the immense task of rebuilding society while they suffer from poverty, diseases and the emotional consequences of conflict. By working on that together with local communities we use ‘health’ as a means to bring people together and to restore mutual trust. On this page we post updates about our project countries, colleagues and themes.

HealthNet TPO Afghanistan recently implemented a Mass Drug Administration (MDA) campaign in northern Samangan Province as part of ongoing efforts to eliminate trachoma and protect communities from preventable blindness.
Trachoma is a neglected tropical disease and the leading infectious cause of blindness worldwide. Through the campaign, 187,847 people out of a target population of 207,382 received treatment, achieving 90.6% coverage.
Implemented with support from the International Trachoma Initiative (ITI) and The Fred Hollows Foundation (FHF), and in coordination with the Samangan Provincial Directorate of Public Health, the campaign also promoted facial cleanliness and environmental improvement practices to help prevent the spread of trachoma and protect eye health.
