Highlight Delft

What happens when a machine doesn’t just see — but interprets?

In Vanishing Mediator, a robotic dog moves through the space, scanning and observing its surroundings. Equipped with a 360° camera and an AI-driven brain, it doesn’t just capture images — it translates them into real-time visuals. What the robot sees is instantly reinterpreted and projected, creating a new layer between reality and perception.

Vanishing Mediator invites you to look again — and to ask yourself: can we still trust what we see?

Vanishing Mediator and 30+ other art & tech installations were part of Highlight Festival 2026.

What happens when a machine starts to feel like a creature?

In The Mad King, part of Robots in Captivity, a 1.2-ton robotic arm roars to life. Chained to the floor, it moves like a trapped animal — powerful, restless, and unsettling.

With this installation, Bram Ellens blurs the line between machine and creature. As the robot thrashes and resists, it begins to mirror something deeply human.

The Mad King invites you to step closer — and to ask yourself: when does a machine become alive?

The Mad King and 30+ other art & tech installations were part of Highlight Festival 2026.

BEHIND THE MAKER: - OTREDADES
What happens when you’re no longer the only one observing?

In OTREDADES, a group of small robotic “dogs” enters the theater foyer every hour for a 30-minute encounter. Equipped with cameras, they wander through the space — observing, recording, and quietly disrupting the scene. Their presence is curious, playful, and just slightly chaotic. As they move among the audience, the line between observer and observed begins to blur.

OTREDADES invites you to pause — and to ask yourself: how much unpredictability are we willing to accept?

OTREDADES and 30+ other art & tech installations were part of Highlight Festival 2026.

BEHIND THE MAKER: MYCOGRAVITY

What happens to life when gravity no longer behaves as expected?

In MycoGravity, pink oyster mushrooms grow inside a transparent bioreactor mounted on a moving robotic arm. By constantly shifting direction, the installation disrupts gravity — one of life’s most fundamental forces.

As the mushrooms grow, they adapt, twist and reshape themselves in unexpected ways, transforming the rotating bioreactor into a living, evolving sculpture.
