We're preparing an exhibition!

Our former technical repair area is currently being transformed into an exhibition room. The first exhibition, expecting to start this Saturday, will be about calculators and their influence on home computers. With of course the Anita Mark8, Olivetti P101 and HP 65!

All included in our ticket price of € 10,24 for adults.

Today we received something for the Retro Center that we never would've imagined when the HomeComputerMuseum opened its doors 8 years ago. A pallet full of brand new Commodore 64 Ultimate, from Commodore!

This means we will have Commodore 64 Ultimate in stock at the opening on 25 September at Noord Koninginnewal 53 in Helmond, diagonal to the HomeComputerMuseum.

The Retro Center is a part of the HomeComputerMuseum and all profits will flow entirely into supporting the museum and its mission to preserve the history of the (home) computer for current and future generations.

We do get asked what we're going to sell, so here are some photos of the things we're going to sell. And this is not all!

And it's a full retro experience, so no sending or online reservation. While you're shopping in the Retro Center, you can also drop by the museum or vice versa. The museum will also change in the next few weeks/months as we're going to re-use the space what used to be the repair department and warehouse for more things to show.

In case you are unaware, the Retro Center is free to visit / shop and the entrance for the museum remains € 10,24 for adults.

A few days ago, we received an awesome donation with very old calculators like the Anita and Friden. Some of you may have spotted the MSX in there too.

Today, we opened the box which is slightly damaged. However, inside we found the Toshiba HX-10 in absolutely mint state. It was never used. The keyboard is brand new, most things still wrapped. Really, we never saw this state of new old stock..

Upon further inspection, we found a random KIM-1 (rev B) and some really interesting pieces of hardware of which we are not sure what it exactly is, maybe you know?

A quick dropoff of a donation, an Exidy Sorcerer. Technically an Exidy Sorcerer II, but no big differences between the 2. Or, does someone know what the differences are?

Anyway, this Exidy Sorcerer is broken and if you look close, you'll find the reason.

Today, we received this awesome donation. Really old calculators, including 2 Anita C/VIII.

The Anita C/VIII (also known as the Mark 8) is generally recognized as the first mass-produced commercially-available all-electronic calculator. That distinction alone makes the machine interesting, but the really fascinating part about this machine is that the designers managed to come up with a complete all-electronic four-function calculator made from tubes.

Whether these are home computers, could be debated. However, we also show computers that had influence in the way we are using the computer at home today and in the past. These calculators, especially the Anita, had influence. Meaning, these fit in the HomeComputerMuseum to show the time before a computer was in everyone's house.

A big thanks to Chantal for contacting us about her father's collection and donating these to us!

Yes, we're going to make them functional again and no, they cannot play Doom, Quake or AlleyCat ;)

One of our services is repair. And this computer came in yesterday with a request to replace videocard and psu (700 watt out, 850 in).

The customer bought this computer new from a company that builds computers. About 3 years ago.

We were surprised how this company (we do not know who) messed up this build. Only 2 USB ports were accessible, the others blocked by the shield. Wrong screws for the mainboard, some of them loose, and because of using the wrong screws, the mainboard was visibly warped. Even after fixing the backplate and putting in correct screws, we couldn't align the ports.

We thought bad build quality was something from the past, but it still happens.

We advised the customer not to go to that shop again. Last picture is the end result.

In today's things that come in the museum, a trainset and a display.

The train is a pretty rare as far as we've been told. These were released around the Philips Videopac series. Around a 1000 are made, but it didn't sell well and most of them ended up repainted and sold as a standard train. Though we miss one of the wagons, it's still cool to have for in the museum. A big thanks to Michiel for putting these in the museum!

The last 2 pictures is something we randomly got from Willem. A big stand with, as it seems, a touch screen LCD and there's an amp with speakers (we presume) in there as well. The very busy logos and game characters on there is not a sticker, but really printed on metal. It's made by a German company called Friendlyway, but no other information on there. It does look very cool, but I think we still miss something in the back to keep it upright. It's now leaning against a showcase for the picture.
