Moisture = Water. And for water to pe*****te into the hair, we need shampoo and conditioner. It's not even optional, it's a MUST.

I always break curly hair care down into two categories, to help my clients have a better understanding of hair care:

🧴 Shampoo + Conditioner = Skincare
💄 Styling = Makeup

So why are we still treating shampoo as the enemy?

No one expects their makeup to look good on skin that hasn’t been cleansed or prepped properly.. Yet we expect our gels, mousses and creams to give us volume, definition and longevity on hair that hasn’t been properly cleansed or conditioned. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Your styling products can only perform as well as the foundation they’re working with.

Healthy curls don’t start with your cream or gel. They start in the shower.

The better your prep, the less you’ll feel the need to keep buying more styling products. And on top of that.. Less is more. But that's for another video! 🤭

First and foremost: I don’t believe in the curl pattern chart/system.

It was created for marketing.. not to define the "potential" of your hair.

That said, because “Type 4” is the language most people use, let’s talk about one of the biggest myths I’ve come across:

Tighter curls can’t have definition or "That's not type 4C, because it doesn't define like that!" baby, come again? 🤣
Because they absolutely CAN!

More often than not, it’s not your hair that’s the problem, it’s the advice you’ve been given, the techniques you’ve been taught, or products that simply aren’t right for your hair.

This beautiful transformation is proof that with the right knowledge, approach, patience, and education, your "type 4" curls can define and thrive too!

Stop chasing someone else’s curls. Start learning your own. 🤎

My client (and colleague) is an incredibly talented wig and hair extension specialist. But despite helping so many women transform their hair, she’d never experienced seeing her own natural curls in a wash & go.

So it was only right that she sat in my chair.

The voice note you’re hearing in this video… that’s her genuine reaction afterwards. 🥹 Hearing her say how good she felt in her own hair reminded me exactly of why God led me into doing what I do.

One thing I always want people to know is that visiting a curly hair specialist doesn’t mean I’m against wigs, braids, weaves or extensions. Not at all. I love versatility. Hair is creative. It’s expressive. And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with changing up your look.

What I DO believe is that we shouldn’t feel the need to hide or neglect the natural crown God has given us.

Wear the wig.
Install the extensions.
Rock the braids.

But also get to know your hair. Learn it. Care for it. Celebrate it.

The shrinkage. The different textures. The volume. The frizz. The uniqueness. They were never mistakes or to be viewed as something negative: they’re all part of how God created you.

Today wasn’t about choosing curls over wigs or extensions. It was about reminding a beautiful woman that underneath every style is a crown worth knowing and loving.

What a blessing it is to work alongside such an amazing person. My prayer is that together we show the world that you really can do it all. You can embrace your natural curls and enjoy the beauty of versatility.

There's room for both. 🤎
