On Monday 17 August, we come together for Dia di Tula to honour the legacy of Tula, who led the 1795 uprising against slavery on Curaçao.

This annual Tula Lecture brings together history, culture and contemporary social issues for an inspiring evening exploring freedom, resistance, equality and the lasting impact of the colonial past.

The evening features a keynote by Phaedra Haringsma, .ae.dra, live music from Wowi Wowi and Pearl Ramos Tinkerbell 🧚🏽‍♂️ THIS IS PEARL RAMOS with band, spoken word by Sabrina Schoop Sabrina Schoop , a photography exhibition by Luchandro Franca Luchandro Franca , DJ sets by Hedojosa HEDOJOSA and Nathalie Cijntje nathaliecijntje, and will be hosted by Sharine Rijsenburg .

This event is a collaboration between Stichting Gedeeld Verleden en Gezamenlijke Toekomst and OASE.

❈ A Taste of Home with Lisa Smith ❈

From the 1st of August, you’ll find a new family dish on the menu at OASE’s Strandtent. Through A Taste of Home, we invite a different Rotterdammer each month to share a dish that reminds them of home. This month, Lisa Smith is sharing her Indo family recipe with us: Tahu Tauge (Ketoprak). Try Lisa’s dish at OASE’s Strandtent, available throughout August.

Lisa Smith is the founder of Rotterdam’s open-air film festival Roffa Mon Amour. Through her work, Lisa creates spaces where stories, cultures and communities come together.
