This week, new research showed a worrying drop in acceptance of homosexuality among young people in the Netherlands. Among boys in secondary education, it has almost halved: from 40% in 2021 to just 22% in 2025.

That’s why showing up matters.

As life for q***r people in Indonesia is becoming increasingly difficult, we’re taking a city trip to Jakarta to listen, learn and look at the city from a different perspective.

𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮 𝗧𝗮𝗻𝗷𝘂𝗻𝗴 genta
Our host, Genta Tanjung, shares her personal experiences and perspective, offering a glimpse into the city she grew up in. Genta is an Indonesian writer and founder of the q***r creative collective doppelpunkt. She moved to Amsterdam to pursue her MA studies. Her writing is rooted in diasporic and q***r identities.

Precilla’s family dish is part of our A Taste of Home series, where we invite Rotterdammers to share a favourite family recipe and the story behind it. You can try each dish at our Strandtent or Kantine, with a new recipe and story every month.

𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮
Precilla was born and raised in Rotterdam, with a Filipino mother and Dutch father. She works as an independent programme maker and project manager, and was the project manager for Rotterdam Pride, which takes place from 17 to 27 September this year. She is also trained as a w**e sommelier and is always curious about food, flavours and the stories behind them.

It’s a Filipino-inspired dish of tofu braised in soy sauce, cane vinegar, garlic, onion, bay leaves, brown sugar and lime, served with a fresh cucumber and cherry tomato salad. Tip: Add Precilla’s favourite dessert, banana turon with ice cream.

OASE’s Gallery presents Heritage Mosaic, an exhibition by artist Luchandro Franca

The exhibition brings together a series of photographs and videos exploring heritage, tradition and identity. The title Heritage Mosaic refers to a mosaic: diverse elements coming together to form a whole, much like the way our DNA is composed.

As a Dutch-born Curaçaoënaar, Franca has often felt disconnected from his culture and roots. To better understand Antillean traditions and their origins, he collaborated with people who share the same cultural background. Through conversations with different generations, Franca explores these traditions, how they have shaped his identity, and how their importance has diminished or even faded among younger generations.
