Just Confirmed: SONGHOY BLUES
Songhoy Blues is one of the most outstanding and surprising desert blues bands around today. Refugees from northern Mali and now based in Bamako, they pay musical tribute to the ancient Songhoy traditions. And now, they finally bring their masterful new take on the desert blues sound to GROUNDS!
The album presents new compositions and reworkings of old classics. Infused with the ethereal sounds of various traditional instruments, all in the hands of great Malian masters: kora, soku, kamalengoni, flute, Senufo xylophone, and calabash percussion. And unexpectedly, a steel guitar wanders in, sounding eerily like the voice of the desert. So Songhoy Blues is an absolute must-see for fans of energetic blues rock with a West African groove!

Met veel verdriet hebben wij vernomen dat Leo Davelaar op 54-jarige leeftijd is overleden.
Leo was jarenlang een vertrouwd gezicht bij Grounds. We hebben met hem mogen samenwerken aan verschillende gospelconcerten, waarin zijn enorme liefde voor gospelmuziek, enthousiasme en muzikale bevlogenheid altijd voelbaar waren.
We zullen Leo herinneren als een warm en betrokken persoon, die met zijn muziek en energie mensen wist samen te brengen. We zijn dankbaar voor de mooie producties en momenten die we samen met hem hebben mogen beleven.
Onze gedachten gaan uit naar zijn familie, vrienden en iedereen die hem dierbaar was.

Just Confirmed: MIN TAKA
Inspired by artists such as Mitski, Caroline Polachek, Cocteau Twins and Charli XCX, the pixie-pop artist released her latest EP, âI Think We Should Just Move In Togetherâ, in July 2025, which was streamed over 1 million times in a single week. To top it all off, she also won the Rotterdam Music Award for Hit of the Year last year for the title track, âBostonâ. And she fared well nationally too, with a nomination for the Edison Awards.
Since 2020, she has performed at numerous venues and festivals, including Down The Rabbit Hole, ESNS, The Great Escape and Motel Mozaique. With her songs in Turkish and English, she has already won over the Netherlands, so now itâs Europeâs turn to be conquered. But first, one last show in her second home, Rotterdam!

Just Confirmed: TAI ALLEN & REG WYNS
Miles Davis, John Coltrane and Oscar Brown changed music. Ray Brown and Lou Donaldson, also in the 100 club, were jazz and soul masters who still inspire musicians. Their genius created timeless music and birthed amazing modern artists, like: Glasper, Pharcyde, Badu, Johnny Hartman, Kanye, A Tribe Called Quest, Amy Whinehouse, Minnie Riperton, Les Nubians and more.
For this project, Tai Allen and Reg Wyns have brought together a strong line-up to deliver their tribute in superb style on stage. Reg Wyns, while a member of Us3, performed on Cantaloop that includes a Donaldson sample. And Tai Allen himself has been compared to Oscar Brown â vocalist, poet & political activist â and idolized Ray Brownâs production with Quincey Jones. They will be joined by special guests Emanuel Ruffler (keys), who has played with Wallace Roney (a Miles disciple), and John Lander (bass, keys and vocals).

From 12 to 23 August, Roffa Mon Amour returns to the sculpture garden of Brutus in Rotterdam West for twelve summer evenings packed with film, music and experiences. Among the impressive works of art by Atelier Van Lieshout, you will discover colourful and playful films that you won't see anywhere else, meet new people and be surprised by music, dinners, workshops and discussions that come together around the theme of âMind Workâ. Do You Love Me is a love letter to Beirut and a hypnotic journey through 70 years of Lebanonâs audiovisual memory. Through the eyes of citizens, filmmakers, and artists, the film reconstructs a fragmented history in a country without a national archive, celebrating playful creative expression as both resistance and a way to preserve memory. All of this is topped off with a wonderful Lebanese soundtrack featuring artists such as Fairuz, Blu Fiefer and Bedouin Burger.
My Semba (2026) | 20.08
My Semba is an anthem, a city symphony, and a love letter to Luanda. A film that moves like the music it's named after: rooted in daily life, sharp with wit, and quietly political. Hugo Salvaterra weaves poetry, rap, and images soaked in rich, vibrant colour into something that feels like a living, breathing poem. One that asks what it means to be Angolan today and answers it with resilience, warmth, and an unshakeable faith in art.
