Founded in 2010 by a team of Afghan’s and expat’s with over 30 years combined experience in the creative fields, Kuchi Productions aims to bring a new standard of quality to film, photography and design within Afghanistan and to present to the international community a vision of the country hitherto unseen. We specialise in accessing areas of the country which may appear beyond reach, yet with careful planning and respect for local customs we can access a hidden world and in doing so reveal the untold stories of our times. Drawing on the experience of a multinational, award winning crew combined with local knowledge and cutting edge equipment, each film made aims to give a unique window into another world with the highest production values possible. Sparlo:
Marks the first production for the company combining the extensive knowledge of Afghanistan that all three of its founders have amassed. Producer Sultan Mahamood and Co-Producer Kabir Mokamel are Afghan nationals, both of whom grew up in the country before migrating to Australia and Holland, respectively. Both men currently live and work in Kabul and are intimately familiar with the politics, cultural sensitivities, and recent histories of Afghanistan. Sultan Mahamood has worked for one of the largest Media company in Afghanistan for over fours years working on the biggest literacy program in the country, over seeing its implementation and publicity. His extensive knowledge of the country has made Sparlo possible. Kabir Mokamel is an established artist and Graphic Designer whose work has been showcased internationally. Sparlo director, Keith O’Shea, has worked in Afghanistan for two years. He has produced work for the BBC and his films have screened at international films including Hot Docs. His documentary ‘Dear Matthew’ won the Jury award for best international short documentary at 2009 Stranger than Fiction Documentary film festival as well as having won at other international film festivals. Their bicultural perspectives have prepared them to cut through the atmosphere of nostalgia which surrounds the practices Afghanistan, and the revival of ‘traditional’ culture which buzkashi is purported to represent. Together, the Nomad team understands the history of the Afghan conflict and its domestic and international representations, and possesses the critical perspectives required to analyse the complexities of buzkashi and its broader discontents. Saboor:
‘Saboor: Kabul’s Uncle Traffic’ is a short form documentary charting the life of Kabul’s most well known and loved traffic policeman, Abdul Saboor. Throughout his working life Saboor has toiled under every regime going, from the Communists to the Taliban he never quit his post, a fact that was noticed by former Mujahadeen president Ustad Rabbani, who promised him his own plot of land. 16 years later and Saboor is yet to receive his gift, yet he lives in hope and can still be found directing traffic in his trademark style

Produced and Directed: Laurence Cameron & Sultan Mahamood
Laurence is a British Filmmaker, who holds a degree in Documentary Film Making form the International Film School in Wales. He worked in various capacities, amongst others as a local news journalist and for BBC. Laurence, who mainly works freelance, has produced a number of films for clients on an international basis that took him to places as far flung as Mongolia and Siberia. Hi documentary "Tough Guy 453" won 'best film' at the Fresh Film Awards 2010. Laurence has been in Afghanistan for the past year, initially working for a media company, producing material to promote the Afghan National Army. Having travelled through the country extensively, Laurence now intents to translate his newly found passion into his work to the greater benefit of the people and does not intent to leave any time soon

Kabulstreet:
The vision of the Art for Peace Initiative 'KabulStreet' by Kuchi Productions is to promote the message of peace in Afghanistan through the expressivity of the arts. 'KabulStreet' wish to portray a visual representation of the communities' desire to move from war towards peace.
