𝗡𝗮 𝘃𝗶𝗷𝗳 𝗷𝗮𝗮𝗿 𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗯𝗼𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵…

After five years as national coach…

Today, I have decided to step down from my position as national coach of the Young Riders and the EEF League after five years.

A difficult decision, as it is a role I have absolutely loved fulfilling and one that has given me an incredible amount of satisfaction. The passion for the sport, the riders and working together towards our goals: that is the most rewarding part of it all.

When I started five years ago, the goal was clear: to put the three-star competitions of the EEF Series on the map and to guide Young Riders and new combinations in their progression to a higher level.

After a challenging first year, the interest, motivation and confidence among the riders grew. We were able to celebrate some fantastic victories and podium finishes. The Young Riders continued to grow with every championship, and this year we were finally able to bring home the European gold medal.

A moment I am incredibly proud of.

In my opinion, we have achieved our goal. We have built a strong group of horses and riders, both among the youth and the seniors, that is ready for the future.

Nevertheless, this feels like the right moment for me to take a step back.

GDS Training has grown tremendously over the past few years. It is becoming increasingly difficult to combine running our own business with my role as national coach. I do not want to compromise on the quality that our business, our team and TeamNL deserve. Everything deserves my full commitment and attention.

In addition, I believe that after five years, it is the right time to hand over the reins. Time for new ideas, renewed motivation and someone who can continue building on what we have achieved.

I look back on these five years with an incredible amount of pride: the victories, the disappointments, the development of the riders and, above all, all the wonderful moments we have shared together.

Thank you to all the riders, owners, parents, fellow coaches, the KNHS, my family and my team at home for your trust and support.

I will certainly miss being national coach, but I also look to the future with great confidence and enthusiasm.
