Our new report argues that infrastructure and mineral demand alone will not determine the Corridor’s success. , governance and regional coordination will matter just as much.

Stretching 1,300 km from the Atlantic port of Lobito to the Copperbelt, the Corridor could help reshape critical mineral supply chains while creating opportunities for value addition, industrialisation and economic diversification across the region.

During the report launch, participants repeatedly pointed to oversight and public access to information as essential for investor confidence and for ensuring communities see long-term benefits.

How much mining revenue could the 🇨🇩 generate from its copper and cobalt sector – and where are the biggest risks?

In our new blog post, Solofo Rakotoseheno explores findings from recent fiscal modelling of four major mining projects in the DRC, which together account for around 40% of the country’s revenues.

📊 The analysis estimates these projects could generate USD 7.9 billion in government revenues between 2026 and 2030 under a central pricing scenario. But it also highlights how these projected revenues remain vulnerable to commodity price volatility, mineral valuation practices and weaknesses in oversight systems.

As demand for grows, fiscal modelling can help governments better anticipate revenues, understand risks and support informed policymaking.

The conference will take place on 8-9 October 2026, co-hosted by the Government of Belgium 🇧🇪 and the European Commission. 🇪🇺

The event will provide a global platform for dialogue on , governance and accountability in the extractive sector at a time of heightened geopolitical, economic and energy transition challenges. It gathers over 1,000 stakeholders spanning governments, industry, civil society, investors and development partners from across the EITI community and beyond to showcase innovations and strengthen collaboration on responsible natural resource governance.
