Aftereffects Tips

A few months ago, FastBlur Productions had the opportunity to collaborate with Naima Moalin, CEO of Veynuus Firm, on a Civil Registration Awareness Campaign commissioned by IOM Somalia in partnership with the Government of Somalia.

Our role was to bring a series of seven animated awareness videos to life, covering important topics such as National Identification Registration, Birth Registration, Marriage Registration, Guardianship Registration, Divorce Registration, and other key civil registration services.

One of the most rewarding challenges of this project was ensuring every video authentically represented Somalia. Before moving into design and animation, our team invested significant time in understanding Somalia's civil registration procedures, cultural context, architecture, clothing, and everyday environments.

To support the visual development process, we also leveraged AI-assisted concept generation to rapidly explore character directions and visual references. These concepts served as an early ideation tool, while the final characters, illustrations, styleframes, and animations were carefully refined and produced by our creative team to ensure cultural authenticity and consistency throughout the campaign.

Working closely with Naima was instrumental throughout this process. Beyond developing the scripts, she guided us through the government procedures and provided valuable cultural insights that helped us create characters, environments, and visual storytelling that felt genuine and relatable to the Somali audience.

The campaign was produced in both English and Somali, requiring carefully adapted on-screen graphics and text to ensure clarity and accessibility for both audiences.

Today, we're sharing one of the seven videos from the campaign—Marriage Registration—which highlights the importance of registering marriages to safeguard legal rights and improve access to essential public services.
