Is Your Digital Literacy Ready for the AI Age? š§ š¤
The definition of "Digital Literacy" just got a major upgrade.
For decades, being digitally literate meant knowing how to use complex software, finding information with a search engine, and basic technical proficiency. That was the 'Then.'
Today, the 'Now' demands AI Literacy. The new key skill isn't just using AI, but effectively leading it.
Check out our new infographic for the 4 Pillars of AI Literacy you need to master to stay ahead.
4 Key Shifts You Need to Make:
Then: 'Technical Proficiency' -> Now: Prompt Engineering (Learning to guide AI to your exact goals).
Then: 'Information Retrieval' -> Now: Critical Evaluation (Verifying AI output for accuracy and bias).
Then: 'Using Complex Programs' -> Now: Collaboration & Iteration (Iteratively refining AI-generated work, not just accepting the first result).
New Pillar: Ethical Awareness (Understanding the moral and societal implications of AI).
Save this post to use as your modern tech checklist!
How do you rank yourself on these four pillars? Share in the comments below! š

Open-weight models are back in action again:
1. Reflection AI unveiled Beam: A U.S. open-weight model aimed at Chinese rivals. Beam is a text-only mixture-of-experts model with 501 billion total parameters and about 23 billion active, a 1 million-token context window, and pretraining on 23.8 trillion tokens.
Reflection says it matches leading Chinese open models on reasoning while using 3ā4x less inference compute. Weights, docs, and an Apache 2.0 release are planned later this month; an early-access version is out now. If those claims hold, Western open models get a cheaper coding and agent option.
2. Mistral previewed Mistral Large 4, code-named āLe Chonkā: The Paris labās public preview is a roughly 1 trillion-parameter multimodal model with about 49 billion active parameters, trained in its own European data centers.
Mistral is targeting coding, cybersecurity, finance, and manufacturing, and says a full public release with weights is set for October 27 after a testing window with developers and authorities. Europe now has a flagship-scale open-weight contender on a short clock.
3.DeepSeek is reportedly closing a round of at least about $12 billion: Bloomberg reported the Chinese lab is near at least 80 billion yuan, with Tencent and CATL among the largest backers, and that demand could push the total toward roughly $15 billion ahead of a Hong Kong IPO targeted for early 2027.
A raise of that size would fund the next training cycle and keep pressure on U.S. and European open-weight labs.

5 Things About Steve Jobs That Will Blow Your Mind š¤Æš
15 years ago, the world lost a man who changed how we interact with technology.
Here are 5 fascinating things about Steve Jobs that you may not know:
1ļøā£ He dropped out of collegeābut kept attending classes.
Jobs left Reed College after just one semester, but continued sitting in on classes that interested him. One of them was calligraphyāa seemingly useless skill that later influenced the beautiful typography and fonts of the Macintosh.
2ļøā£ He was obsessed with the details people never noticed.
Jobs famously cared about the inside of Apple products, even though most users would never see it. He believed that true craftsmanship included the parts hidden from view.
3ļøā£ He helped make the mouse mainstream. š±ļø
The computer mouse wasnāt invented by Apple, but Jobs was fascinated by the graphical interface and mouse-based computing he saw at Xerox PARC. Apple helped turn these ideas into products ordinary people could actually use.
4ļøā£ He was forced out of the company he helped create.
In 1985, Jobs was pushed out of Apple after a power struggle with the companyās leadership. He later returned in 1997āand helped transform Apple from a struggling company into one of the worldās most valuable technology companies.
5ļøā£ His biggest legacy may not be the iPhone.
š±Jobs changed something deeper: he helped make technology feel human.
His focus on simplicity, design, storytelling, and user experience influenced how the world thinks about technology today.
šļø Steve Jobs (1955ā2011)
He didnāt just build products. He helped change our relationship with technology.
15 years later, his influence is still everywhere.

Worldwise AI Daily Tech Update:
1. OpenAI starts invisible text watermarks in the EU: OpenAI said it will add textGrain, an invisible statistical watermark, to ChatGPT and Codex text in the European Union to meet EU AI Act transparency rules. It rolls out over the coming weeks on all plans in the EU only. API customers worldwide can opt in now; it stays off by default. The mark lives in word choices, so it survives copy-paste, does not identify the user, and OpenAI says it saw no meaningful quality drop. Not a global default yet.
Why it matters: Provenance is moving from images and audio into everyday text. EU users and publishers get a detector signal; everyone else does not, for now.
2. Reflection AI unveils Beam, a 501B open-weight model: Nvidia-backed Reflection AI launched Beam, a text-only mixture-of-experts model with 501 billion parameters (about 23 billion active), a 1 million-token context window, and pretraining on 23.8 trillion tokens. The company says it matches Z.aiās GLM-5.2 on advanced reasoning while using 3ā4x less inference compute. Claims are not independently verified. Weights are the companyās first open frontier release.
Why it matters: A Western open-weight answer aimed at DeepSeek, Qwen, and Z.ai could lower the cost of coding and agent workloads for enterprises that want weights they can host.
3. TikTok launches Shopping Assistant and Buy Direct: TikTok rolled out Shopping Assistant, a conversational agent for product details, shipping, sizing, and checkout, plus Buy Direct for one-click purchases from the For You feed. Partners include Shopify, Stripe, Salesforce, and Shoplazza.
Why it matters: Discovery and checkout now sit in the same feed, which keeps more commerce inside TikTok and raises the bar for other social shopping tools.

Worldwise AI Daily Tech Update
1. White House stands up a Super Intelligence Force: President Trump announced a Super Intelligence Force to coordinate federal AI policy, after a recent meeting with lab and chip leaders. National intelligence director Jay Clayton will chair it, with FTC Chair Andrew Ferguson, Undersecretary of War for Research and Engineering Emil Michael, and OPM Director Scott Kupor as vice chairs.
The group reports to Trump and chief of staff Susie Wiles and has about 120 days to report on risks and opportunities, with a charter that also warns against overregulation. For companies, this is the administrationās latest bet on voluntary coordination over binding rules.
2. Google narrows free Gemini to Flash-Lite: Starting October 9, personal accounts without a Google AI plan will be limited to Flash-Lite. AI Plus ($4.99/month) keeps Flash-Lite and Flash but loses Pro; Pro stays on AI Pro and AI Ultra. Free users currently get Gemini 3.6 Flash and limited 3.1 Pro. Casual use may barely notice; power users on the free tier will. It also lines Googleās consumer funnel up with ChatGPTās paid split.
3. OpenAI safety-report lead quits and calls the culture broken: David Robinson, who helped write OpenAIās preparedness framework and safety reports for 12 frontier launches over 3½ years, resigned and published āI Quit OpenAI Because Its Culture Is Brokenā in The Atlantic. He argues labs are not ānearly careful enough,ā that iterative āship, then patchā deployment is the wrong model, and that frontier work now needs nuclear-plant or airport-style redundancy.
OpenAI said it pauses training or holds models when capability outruns what it can safely manage. The piece lands days after the company shelved a GPT-6.1 Astra release over alignment and authorization failures.
