Human Rights Film Center, in collaboration with the National Human Rights Commission Nepal, the Film Development Board Nepal, and the Film Directors' Association of Nepal, successfully organized a Human Rights Orientation Program for filmmakers on June 22, 2026, at the National Human Rights Commission, Pulchowk, Lalitpur.

The program was chaired by Hon. Lili Thapa, Member of the National Human Rights Commission. Mr. Murari Kharel, Secretary of the Commission, delivered a presentation on fundamental human rights principles, freedom of expression, gender equality, child rights, the right to privacy, and non-discrimination.

The event brought together film directors, producers, writers, actors, and representatives of film-related organizations. Participants emphasized the need to view cinema not only as a medium of entertainment but also as a powerful tool for promoting human rights, social awareness, and positive change. Discussions also highlighted concerns regarding unnecessary censorship and the importance of protecting creative freedom to address real social issues through film.

चलचित्रकर्मीहरूका लागि मानवअधिकार सम्बन्धी एक दिने अभिमुखीकरण कार्यक्रम

नेपाली चलचित्र क्षेत्रसँग आबद्ध व्यक्तित्व तथा विभिन्न संघ, संस्थाका प्रतिनिधिहरूलाई मानवअधिकारका विविध आयाम, संवेदनशीलता र सिद्धान्तबारे विस्तृत जानकारी गराउने उद्देश्यले चरणबद्ध रूपमा एक दिने अभिमुखीकरण कार्यक्रम सञ्चालन गर्न लागिएको सहर्ष जानकारी गराउँदछौँ।
यस अभियानको पहिलो चरणमा चलचित्रका निर्देशक तथा लेखकहरूलाई लक्षित गरी निम्न मिति, समय र स्थानमा कार्यक्रम आयोजना गरिँदै छ। मानवअधिकार मैत्री सिनेमा निर्माणमा यो कार्यक्रम फलदायी हुने विश्वास लिएका छौँ।

Human Rights Film Center (HRFC) extends its warmest congratulations to filmmaker Abinash Bikram Shah and the entire team of Elephants in the Fog for winning the prestigious Jury Prize in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival 2026.
