Traps 🙂

Yesterday, while I was giving a mock test, I saw something very simple, yet it stayed with me for the rest of the day.

A father came to the classroom to drop off his daughter. He told the invigilator : Sir, यो मेरो छोरी हो, पहिलो पटक exam दिन आएकी हो। He walked up to her bench, gave her a bottle of water, and gently said : राम्ररी exam देऊ है, म तल wait गर्छु।

And he actually waited there for almost 3 hours.

It was only a mock test. Yet he came all the way to drop her off, made sure she had water, waited for her throughout the exam, and took her home afterwards.

And somehow, watching that made me miss my parents terribly.

I live far away from home, in a hostel, with no family here in Kathmandu. During my +2, I lived alone in a room cooking for myself, eating alone, going to class, studying, and taking care of everything on my own.

Sitting beside her, I felt a little uncomfortable. Not because of her, but because she was so beautifully loved and cared for by her parents.

What made it hit even harder was knowing that this was just a mock test, while there are students whose parents may not even be able to come to the actual exam.

It made me realize how differently everyone experiences the same journey.

Some have parents waiting outside the exam hall.
Some have a bottle of water handed to them before the exam.

And some of us learn to walk into the examination hall alone, carrying our own water, our own worries, and our own dreams.

Yesterday, I wasn’t jealous of her. I was just missing home.
Sometimes, the smallest moments remind you of the people you wish were beside you. ❤️
