Urgent Update on Manaslu Circuit Route

The District Administration Office, Gorkha, has issued an urgent notice urging people not to travel along the Manaslu and Larkey Pass trekking routes. Trekkers who are either preparing for the journey or are currently en route have been advised to refrain from trekking until further notice.

A flood in the Therang Khola (stream) at Namrung this morning caused extensive damage to trekking trails, hotels, and a hydroelectric project in the area on Saturday night, 5th September, 2026.

The flood in the Therang Khola at Namrung (Chumanubri Rural Municipality-4) washed away the iron bridge connecting Chumanubri-4 and -2, as well as the suspension bridge over the Budhigandaki River on the trail leading from Gap to the Namrung forest; therefore, trekkers who are preparing for or are currently on the Manaslu or Larkya Pass trekking routes are advised not to undertake the trek until further notice," states the notice issued by the administration.

Young Malaysians prepare to return after giving up hope, following the disappearance of their parents in the Bhote Koshi mud floods. They wanted to know where they were, if they were alive or dead, the daughter said.

According to Prem BK, a Nepali citizen has been coordinating with them and came to Nepal from Malaysia in search of their parents; they are preparing to return to Malaysia after it became clear that contact could not be established.

Those who have lost contact include 60-year-old Murukan Supramaniam, 59-year-old Raman Supramaniam, 54-year-old Neelavany Marimuthu, and 58-year-old Padmahwathi Govindaswamy. Their children have come to Nepal to search for them.

Their Tibet tour was arranged by Fishtail Tour and Travels.

The government informed the families that there was no longer any possibility of rescuing the victims alive from the flood-affected areas. Consequently, the reason for them to remain in Nepal gradually lost its meaning.

Children who had come to Nepal from Malaysia hoping to meet their parents are now returning empty-handed. During their stay in Nepal, they met with various authorities and requested assistance in locating their family members; however, no concrete information regarding them could be obtained.
