We sat down with the woman behind some of the most beautiful handmade rugs we've seen, and her story is the whole reason we wanted to share it.

The Greenhouse room at the Lobby Bar at Hotel Chelsea, a space that layers lattice, patterned tiles and drapery to create a warm, intimate atmosphere.

Each element adds another layer of interior design texture and pattern, giving the bar a sense of depth and character while nodding to the rich history of the hotel.

The collections of El Quijote: all saved from the original versions of the space, bringing together layers of ornamentation and collected pieces to create a space full of unique character.

It’s the accumulation of details that gives the room its sense of history, with each element adding to the story rather than standing alone.

Just returned home from eight days in NYC to kick start a new project, with a little bit of downtime in between!

Highlights included the Tarot exhibition at the Morgan, a million showrooms (including getting to finally see the amazing WRETCHED FLOWERS new spot - so worth a visit!), catching up with family and friends, hunting through antique and salvage yards in the pits of New Jersey, drinks at the very cool Obvio, and the new Printemps New York department store - holyyy, what a wonderland of tile and wallpaper and stone, an interiors wonderland. The gallery wall in 's flagship store isn't styling — it's owner Kat Tua's aunty's 1970s dolls, photos from the brand's own shoot, images pulled from vintage NZ hiking guides, and antique paintings.

Birch plywood, Aalto's Toi Māori Aotearoa palette, and taonga placed into the room instead of being purely bought for it. That's the difference between a considered space and a decorated one.
