One trap doesn’t suit every job! Targeting Norway rats in a suburban drain or compost heap calls for a different setup than a bush block where you’re after stoats, weasels, rats and mice all at once. Being able to see right through matters for stoats, and colour plays a part too - it really is horses for courses depending on your project area and target.

Anyone who services trap lines knows the product isn’t just about catching the predator.
You’ve also got to live with the thing.
Carry it in. Install it. Open it. Clean it. Rebait it. Reset it. Repeat.
That’s why we like this little detail on the NestGard:
The lid comes completely off.
No trying to work around an awkward hinged lid while you’re cleaning, rebaiting or resetting your DOC150.
It’s a small feature, but when you’re servicing trap after trap, those small details start to matter.
NestGard was designed by trappers with the practical side of trapping firmly in mind.
Take a closer look at NestGard on the Connovation website.

Don’t just scuff one spot - scuff the whole run! Scuffing here and there along the path helps your target feel comfortable moving all the way through, not just up to the entrance. Do this every time you service the trap to reactivate that neon effect and keep them coming back.

We have a bit of a soft spot for products like these.
Not because they’re flashy.
Actually, pretty much the opposite.
NestGard and LureGard exist because people out trapping noticed problems and thought: surely we can make this better?
Trap Tools was established with a goal of making traps easier to install and service while improving results.
Their products are designed and manufactured in Christchurch, with ideas informed by real conservation work in places like the Nina and Doubtful Valleys.
NestGard tackles the weight and practicality of trap enclosures.
LureGard tackles disappearing lure.
Two very practical NZ-made solutions to very practical trapping problems.
And we’re pretty pleased to now have both available at Connovation.

Trapping gear often needs to move wherever the work takes you.

That's where our Collapsible Live Cat Trap Tunnel comes in — and if it's not in your kit yet, here's why it's worth a look.

The trap body folds flat for easy transport and storage between trapping jobs. When you're ready to use it, unfold it into its rectangular tunnel, assemble the components and set the trap.

Finished at that site? Fold it down again in reverse.

Simple, practical and designed with teams moving between trapping locations in mind.

Want your target to let its guard down? Bait generously! Placing bait in your scuffs, along the ramp and a mother lode at the far end encourages them to come and go, again and again, building confidence in what feels like a safe, benign space. That repeated exposure is exactly what leads to the fatal mistake!

Felt or terracotta—which lure do you need?
The answer depends on your trap:
🔹 Felt lures are designed for kill traps.
🔹 Terracotta lures are designed for the DOC trap series.
Our updated lures are supplied dry, not pre-soaked, and are available in Cheddar Cheese, Apple & Pear, and Chocolate & Hazelnut flavours.

You bait the trap.
The mice find it.
You come back for your next trap check… and the lure has disappeared.
Sound familiar?
In areas with high mouse numbers, Trap Tools found lure could disappear from traps within two nights.
That’s the problem LureGard was created to solve.
Pop your lure inside and the polycarbonate shell helps prevent mice from carrying it away, while openings allow the scent to escape and continue attracting your target predators.
It also helps shelter your lure from rain.
Simple idea. Very annoying problem solved.

Ever wonder why every commercial bait station these days uses a run-through design? Rats avoid dead-end alleys because anything could be lurking, but a run-through with the bait tucked off to the side feels safe to move through again and again. That growing confidence is exactly what leads to the fatal mistake!
