Six hours in and you forgot to eat again. Or you've been staring at a task you want to do, just can't start.

If you're self-employed with an ADHD or autistic brain, the business gives you no scaffolding. No colleague who notices you've gone quiet, no manager breaking the big job into steps. Everything lands on you.

Work With It is a free guide with twelve small workarounds for the moments that cost neurodivergent business owners the most: starting and stopping, remembering and time, admin and people, sensory and energy.

Pick the one moment costing you most this month. Try one workaround for a fortnight.

Ever caught yourself dreading a client email you used to answer without thinking twice?

That's often the first sign of overload. Not burnout as a big dramatic collapse, but small shifts that build up quietly when you're running your business solo.

Spot It. Say It. is a free guide for sole traders and solo operators. It walks you through a 7-point self-check to catch overload early, plus ready-to-use scripts for the client conversations you've been putting off.

Your answers stay private, right in your browser. No diagnosis, just a starting point.

Some signs the "easy to work with" thing has gone too far, and what to do about it.
Watch for:

You say yes and feel your stomach drop. You rehearse conversations on the drive home that never actually happened. You apologise before you speak in meetings.

Try this instead:
Kill the reflex yes. Install a delay. "Let me check what I've got on and come back to you this afternoon." That's it.

Start small. Don't open with the conversation you've avoided for three years. Decline something minor first.

Expect the hangover. After you say no, you'll feel anxious for a while. That's the old alarm going off, not evidence. It fades faster each time.

Check your motive. Before you agree to something, ask: am I doing this freely, or am I doing it to manage how they'll feel about me?

Nicest person in the office. Snappiest person at home.
Sound familiar?

You spend the whole day being patient with people who haven't earned it. By the time you walk through your own front door there's nothng left in the tank for the people who have.

It's not a contradiction. It's a budget.

Being agreeable at work often means people are surprised when you're upset, because they had no idea anything was wrong. If your unhappiness is consistently news to everyone around you, you've been managing the outside so well that nobody's had a chance to help.

You can be a kind person and still take up space. The two have never been in conflict.

Supporting your injured employee to recover at work 28/05/2026

Our partner ACC is looking for real-life stories from small to medium‑sized New Zealand businesses that have supported employees to recover safely at work after low‑complexity injuries such as sprains and strains.

ACC want to hear stories that showcase:
-how recovery at work made a meaningful difference for your business and your people
-the practical steps or processes you put in place to become a recovery-friendly workplace
-perspectives from both employers and employees.

Selected case studies will be shared on the ACC website, LinkedIn, and with targeted business audiences, helping other organisations understand what works and feel confident supporting their teams.

Interested in taking part? Then DM us.
