PROGEAR SPOTLIGHT: Mamiya 645AFD Kit

Currently available in our secondhand cabinet, the Mamiya 645AFD is by no means a lightweight kit, but the quality you get from the images is outstanding.

With three lenses and both the 120 film back and Phase One P45 39MP digital back, this is a medium format camera that bridges film and digital workflows. The digital back even has a shutter count under 3000, which is rare for this type of workhorse.

These test images were taken using Kodak Portra 160 on film back around our showroom, so this will be a familiar sight to a good amount of you.

Flick us a message or pop in store to have a look!

PROGEAR SPOTLIGHT: Leica M10 Monochrom

The first ever permanent photograph was black-and-white. Television broadcasts, films, and newspapers all started without colour; shooting monochrome is far from new.

However, a digital camera with a dedicated black-and-white sensor is a niche not every photographer dips their toes into. It’s intimidating having colour taken out of the picture (pun intended), but what you get are cameras like the Leica M10 Monochrom.

With incredible low-light performance, impeccable tonal range, and a specially developed 41MP monochrome sensor, the M10M doesn’t feel like your average digital camera. From discreet street photography to dramatic landscapes, this camera makes the most of Leica’s incredible range of lenses and delivers striking images.

While not the M10M, we currently have a secondhand Leica M9 Monochrom CCD available.

PROGEAR SPOTLIGHT: Fujifilm X100V

One of the most popular camera ranges on the market right now, the X100V was an unbeatable addition to the lineup. With a fixed 23mm f/2 lens (35mm equivalent) and 26.1 megapixels, it has become an essential, take-everywhere camera.

While often used for street and travel photography, its flash and built-in ND filter makes it a great option for portraiture.

As usual, Fujifilm's incredible colour science is on full display.

PROGEAR SPOTLIGHT: Kodak Ultramax 400

The do-it-all film for creators on a budget. While Portra is the holy grail, Ultramax is a more affordable option that still punches well above its weight.

High saturation and contrast, lovely skin tones, and enough versatility to be almost effortless, this film is a jack of all trades.
