What can change when you build your communication skills at work?
We've been asking managers what they've noticed after their staff completed Aspire2 Workplace Communication programmes.
Their answers made us pretty proud. 💚
They've seen people become more confident, speak up more, share their ideas, ask for help, contribute to their teams and step into leadership.
We've heard about someone whose improvement idea is now being put into action.
People who went from being nervous speaking in meetings to presenting in front of 60–70 workmates.
A shy employee who now shares his observations when there's a problem or breakdown.
And one learner who told us:
"I feel like I am part of the team now."
Learning at work isn't about going back to school.
It's about building skills you can use every day — and sometimes discovering you're capable of more than you realised.
What could change in your workplace if more of your people had the confidence to speak up, contribute and step forward?

Some people are naturally confident speaking up at work.
Others need a little help finding their voice.
We've recently heard about Workplace Communication learners who have gone from being very shy to:
🙋 sharing observations when something goes wrong
💬 asking for help when they need it
💡 expressing their opinions
🎤 creating and delivering presentations
🤝 contributing more to their teams
These aren't small things.
Speaking up at work can take confidence — particularly if English, literacy, technology or simply standing in front of others has been a challenge in the past.
Give people the opportunity to build those skills and you might be surprised by what they have to say.
Imagine what your people could contribute if they had more confidence to speak up.

💬 "I feel like I am part of the team now."
What a great outcome from workplace training.
This was the feedback from one employee after taking part in an Aspire2 Workplace Communication programme at Industrial Tube Manufacturing, part of TGF Holdings.
Their manager also noticed increased confidence and engagement.
Learning together isn't just about developing new skills. It can help people get to know their teammates, find their voice and feel more comfortable contributing at work.
And feeling like you're genuinely part of the team can make a pretty big difference to your working day.

👕😂 BAD SHIRT DAY!

The Aspire2 Workplace Communication sales team were challenged to dig deep into the darkest corners of their wardrobes and find a shirt they haven’t worn for at least a year – if not three!

And, well… the photo probably explains why. 😬

No Marie Kondo decluttering has happened here. These shirts clearly do not spark joy — but they’ve certainly sparked a few laughs in the office today!

So, we need your help…

🏆 Who wins Bad Shirt Day?
And perhaps more importantly, which shirt should NEVER see daylight again?

Have you ever had a good idea at work…but didn't feel confident enough to say it?
One participant at McKechnie Aluminium did more than speak up.
After taking part in Workplace Communication training, he presented his recommended improvements to the MD, his manager, and Team Coordinator.
And they're now implementing them. 👏
That's what developing confidence and communication skills can lead to.
Your ideas have value. Learning how to communicate them can help other people see that value too.

Imagine going from feeling nervous about speaking in a team meeting… to presenting in front of 60–70 people. 👏
That’s the kind of change managers at Alsco NZ saw after staff took part in Aspire2 Workplace Communication training.
They noticed more confidence, better communication with coworkers and managers, and people beginning to take more ownership in their roles.
Sometimes the skills are communication skills. But the change they create can be much bigger.
More confidence. More ideas. More willingness to speak up. More opportunities to grow.
That’s worth celebrating. 🙌

Your next great hire might already work for you.
Before you spend time and money recruiting externally, could there be someone in your existing team ready to take the next step?
We’ve seen what can happen when employees develop their communication skills and confidence.
Learners on Aspire2 Workplace Communication programmes have progressed into Team Leader and Supervisor roles, taken on greater responsibility and demonstrated capabilities their managers hadn't always seen before.
Our new white paper, Your Next Great Hire Already Works for You, explores why organisations should look at the talent they already have — and how workplace training can help unlock it.
Developing your existing people can help build future leaders, improve retention, preserve valuable organisational knowledge and reduce reliance on external recruitment.
Before you buy capability, could you build it?
