What a tournament…. For the past 3 days 3 of our junior girls teams have played their hearts out at the NZ Girls Rugby Festival in Taupo.

🖤 Our U13 Mavericks came 3rd in the U13 Tackle Grade.

❤️ Our U11 Storm Rippa team also came 3rd in the U11 Rippa Grade but were also awarded the Fairest and Bravest of their grade.

💚 Our U11 Storm Tackle team came away undefeated in the U11 Tackle Grade but also were awarded the top honour with overall Champions of the Festival.

We couldn’t be prouder of all our girls - but have to give special mention to our U11 Tackle Girls. The NZ Girls Rugby Festival is played across teams from all over NZ and grades range from U11 through to U15 for both Rippa and Tackle. Our U11 tackle girls not only showed amazing talent, grit and determination on the field by being undefeated, but their outstanding sportsmanship in representing our Waitemata Rugby Club values saw them take out the overall tournament champions.

Such an amazing achievement for a group of young ladies where the majority had never played rugby before this season. Well done on showing what hard work and passion looks like not only for your team but also for our club.

Thank you to our amazing volunteer coaches and managers but also families & friends that supported all our teams in getting to Taupo.
