What can a community achieve in six years?

Quite a lot. Here is what happens when our landowners, Ngāti Manuhiri, volunteers, community groups and our council work together with funding from Ministry of Environment.

The latest monitoring of the Mahurangi Land Restoration Programme shows:

🌱30% less fine sediment in restored streams
🐟 Better stream habitats
🦋 More pollution-sensitive insects, a key sign of healthy waterways
💧 Fewer harmful mud particles entering the harbour

It's a great example of what can be achieved when we work together and a fantastic outcome for Mahurangi Harbour and future generations.

Have your say on a new community lease at Wellsford's Hōteo North Domain.

For more than 140 years, the historic hall has been part of community life, bringing people together for events, activities and celebrations. Originally built as the local school, the hall remains an important part of the area's history.

Now you can have your say on a new community lease application from Hōteo North Reserve and Hall Agricultural Society Incorporated. If approved, the lease would support the hall's return to regular community use for local events, meetings, activities and venue hire, while also supporting ongoing grazing and pony club activities at the domain.

Huge congratulations to the incredible students of Nukumea Primary School, Restore Rodney East, and the Rodney Local Parks team on this fantastic achievement. 🌱

Seeing 810 native trees planted by young environmental champions is an inspiring reminder of the positive difference we can make when we work together for our environment. 💚
