MEET ANGIE — OUR BRANCH MANAGER ❤️
If you've been around Midas Onehunga, chances are you've already met me — usually on the phone, behind the desk, running around the workshop, sorting parts, making bookings, doing quotes… or probably talking! 😂
But here's a little bit about how I ended up here.
🚗 AUTOMOTIVE HAS ALWAYS BEEN IN MY BLOOD
I've got photos of myself as a tiny, tiny toddler, standing over a Kingswood with my nappy in the air and my head buried in the engine! 😂
I've always had a passion for cars. I love getting my hands dirty, I love anything automotive, and most importantly…
I LOVE THE SOUND OF A V8! 🔥
I left school and went straight into the automotive industry in 2003, starting at Otahuhu Exhaust & Brake in the office.
From there, I moved into the shop side and did my apprenticeship, earning my Monroe Shock Absorber Specialist Certificate in 2005.
I've worked in more parts places than I can probably remember — including Repco and Bendix — and then my love of Holdens took me to Davies Holden.
I spent four years there in charge of workshop parts and absolutely loved it.
Then came Moyes Panmure, where I got to be around the HSVs and some seriously grunty machines! 🏁🔥
After having my beautiful daughter, I took a little detour from automotive and became a teacher aide so I could follow her through school.
And yes…
📋 MY LAMINATING SKILLS ARE STILL ELITE. 😂
Eventually, automotive came calling again and I went back into the automotive world.
I spent four years at Midas Manukau, before eventually making my way to Midas Onehunga.
And now?
❤️ I'M PROUD TO BE THE BRANCH MANAGER OF MIDAS ONEHUNGA.
🔧 SO WHAT DO I ACTUALLY DO?
Pretty much everything except physically fixing the cars! 😂
I answer the phones, make the bookings, greet customers, sort parts, do quotes, organise the workshop, follow things up and generally keep everything moving.
And yes… I like getting my hands dirty too.
Paulie is my right hand, and I'm his left hand. ❤️
Together, we keep the place moving.
❤️ WHY DO I LOVE THIS JOB?
Because I genuinely love helping people.
I want customers to leave understanding what we've done to their vehicle and, more importantly, understanding what their vehicle might need next.
I'm not about hitting someone with a massive list and saying:
“You need to do ALL of this today!”
Nope.
We'll make a plan.
I'll give you a heads-up about what your vehicle needs now, what it may need before the next WOF, and what we can plan for down the track.
I'd rather help you plan ahead than scare you into doing everything at once.
And if you can't make it in?
We'll work it out.
If you're sick and you're only up the road, sometimes I'll even get the boys to go and pick up your car.
Because that's what I'm here for.
I'm here to help. ❤️
And I absolutely LOVE our customers. They come in for their cars… and often stay for a chat! 😂

When I'm not talking cars, I'm actually a massive arts and crafts girl.
Painting, making things, getting creative — I love it.
But the thing the team probably hears me say more than anything else?
“UP THE WAHS!” 🏉😂
Apparently there is no limit to how many times I can say it in one week.

MEET PAULIE — OUR MR MIDAS 👑

If you've been around Midas Onehunga for any length of time, chances are you already know Paulie.

Paulie has been in the automotive industry pretty much since the day he was born! 😂 His dad had an automotive workshop in Samoa, so Paulie was literally born and bred around cars.

He joined Midas Onehunga in 2002 — and after more than 20 years, there's really only one way to describe him…

He IS Midas Onehunga. 🔧💛

As our Foreman, Paulie is the guy everyone goes to when they're stuck. Tricky problem? Paulie.
Something nobody else can figure out? Paulie.
A car that came through the workshop a year ago and somehow he remembers exactly what was done to it? Definitely Paulie. 😂

He doesn't just fix cars. He teaches, guides and brings the younger technicians through the trade, sharing the knowledge he's built up over the years.

And when it comes to our customers and our community, Paulie goes the extra mile — every single time. His loyalty runs deep, and he absolutely loves our Māngere and Ōnehunga communities. ❤️

Outside the workshop, Paulie is all about family, food, church, cars and music — and if you've been a true Midas customer for a while, you'll probably know about his other talent…
