Joining TIKI TAANE and Auckland Phil this October are two powerhouse Kiwi artists!

Tali, multi award-winning musician from Aotearoa, is known internationally for her groundbreaking achievements in electronic music. With her soaring, soulful voice and electrifying live performances, Tali's love of electronic music has seen her work with a variety of producers, DJs, and live musicians across multiple genres.

Big Sima, touring and recording artist from Christchurch, is one of Aotearoaโ€™s most authentic voices in contemporary hip-hop. As frontman of 8-piece hip-hop band Boomtown he has toured for the last 4 years, bringing high-energy shows to stages across the country.

Catch them both alongside Tiki Taane and Auckland Phil for this symphonic collaboration to kick off the summer!

Our Learn & Participate Ensemble, the Jade Quartet, performed at Te Tฤpui Atawhai - Auckland City Mission for HomeGround residents and street whฤnau in September as part of our Hauora Music Experience series.

Around 20 people came along to hear the string quartet perform a colourful variety of pieces, showcasing both familiar melodies and some of the surprising sounds string instruments can create.

It was wonderful to see people closing their eyes while listening, tapping their feet, popping out and coming back for more, and asking plenty of questions afterwards.

Thank you to the team at Te Tฤpui Atawhai for making this possible, and for the tea and carrot cake we shared with the audience after the performance. ๐Ÿ’™

Orchestral manoeuvres beyond the concert hall 29/09/2026

From performances in planetariums to workshops for pre-schoolers in ECEs, high-performance sport teams, people living with dementia, a refugee settlement centre, and men in a prison rehabilitation programme, we partner with many different organisations and communities to connect Aucklanders to our orchestra and orchestral music.

Our Senior Director of Strategy and Engagement, Thomas Hamill chatted with RNZ Concert's Bryan Crump about our wonderful partnership with Te Whatu Stardome for the Strings Under the Stars events, the new commission from Camryn Nel written especially for this performance, and why partnerships are such an important part of what we do.

On Sunday evening our Haydn Staples Piano Scholars joined with a string trio of Auckland Phil members for absolutely stellar performance of three piano quartets!

This is just one of the ways in which we support talented young musicians as they prepare for life as professional musicians. It was brilliant to see, hear and feel enjoyment and connection between the scholars and our musicians and how they communicated this to a wonderfully engaged audience at the Mount Eden Village Centre.

Bravi tutti! ๐Ÿ‘

Thank you to Haydn Staples and the Staples Education Foundation for their continued support of this very special programme.
