🌼 Happy Teacher Appreciation Day! 🌼

Today, our Adventurers tamariki wanted to share a little extra love and appreciation for all of the amazing kaiako here at Toki Explorers. 💚

The tamariki spent time talking about why they love and appreciate their kaiako, picked beautiful buttercup flowers for them, and lovingly made special cards which they proudly handed out. 🌼💌

It was such a beautiful opportunity for our Adventurers to practise kindness, gratitude and appreciation, while also being wonderful role models for our younger tamariki. By showing them how we can say thank you, recognise the people who care for us and make others feel special, they are helping to create a culture of kindness throughout our centre. 🌿

A huge thank you to all of our incredible kaiako for the love, patience, care and dedication you give our tamariki each and every day. The impact you have on these little lives is so very special and appreciated.

🌿 FREE FALLING FRIDAYS! 🌿

Climb, balance, jump… and do it all over again! 🙌

Our tamariki had an absolute blast challenging their bodies as they climbed the boxes, carefully navigated the balance beam, and finished with a BIG jump onto the safety mats!

Experiences like this give our tamariki opportunities to explore safe risk-taking, build confidence, develop balance and coordination, problem-solve, and discover just how capable they are. 💪🌱

🌸 Spring is in the air at Toki Explorers! 🌸

We have been admiring all the beautiful cherry blossoms blooming around us and are lucky enough to have our very own cherry blossom tree growing right here at the centre. 🌿🌸

Inspired by the blossoms, our tamariki enjoyed creating their own beautiful cherry blossom trees using paintbrushes and cotton buds. 🎨 They explored colour, texture and different painting techniques while creating their own unique spring masterpieces.

Such a lovely way to bring nature, creativity and learning together. 🌸💚

🌿🌼 Little Adventures in Nature 🌼🌿

Today our Adventurers headed off on one of our adventure walks down to the awa to visit the eels. Along the way, we couldn’t resist stopping to explore the beautiful flowers growing near the meadow. 💛🤍

The tamariki discovered lots of bright yellow buttercups and delicate white onion flowers, enjoying picking a few, examining them closely and using their wonderful imaginations to search for little places where fairies might be hiding. 🧚‍♀️✨

Of course, no adventure is complete without a little spontaneous fun! The tamariki placed some of their buttercups into the flowing water and watched excitedly as they raced along in their very own buttercup boat races. 🌼💦

These simple moments in nature create such rich opportunities for curiosity, imagination, exploration and connection with our natural world. 🌿

Another beautiful adventure with our Adventurers! 💚

✨ Morning Fine Motor Fun! ✨

This morning at drop-off, our tamariki enjoyed a simple but engaging fine motor provocation! 🌿

Using upside-down colanders, colourful pipe cleaners and feathers, the tamariki were busy pushing, poking and threading them through the holes. There was lots of concentration, creativity, laughter and conversation along the way! 🪶🌈

We even incorporated some early maths as we counted how many pipe cleaners and feathers we could add. 🔢

A fun hands-on experience supporting fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, problem-solving, creativity and early numeracy all through play! 💚

🍍 P is for Pineapple! 🍍

This week in the Adventurers Room, our letter of the week is P!

Today, Kaiako Judy brought along a real pineapple for the tamariki to explore. They had so much fun using their senses to touch, smell and taste the pineapple, before helping to cut it up ready to enjoy with lunch.

What a wonderful hands-on way to bring our letter of the week to life building vocabulary, exploring our senses and developing practical life skills along the way!
