BUILDERS SERIES — PART 2
DONE & DUSTED
This was a three-part job.
The first stage is always quoting. With builders cleans, I provide a rough estimate based on the work involved and allow a little extra time for unexpected delays or additional cleaning that may come up.
For this property, the clean was broken into two main phases so we could work around other trades still completing their jobs.
As often happens with builders cleans, some trades returned after we had finished certain areas, which meant another round of dusting, vacuuming and surface cleaning was needed.
This is exactly why experience matters when estimating these jobs — there are often little things that can’t be predicted at the beginning.
All up, this clean involved two half-days with three cleaners, plus two additional visits to make sure everything was properly finished and ready.
Builders cleans are very different from regular house cleaning. They require patience, flexibility, attention to detail and often several stages before the property is truly ready.
But seeing everything finally clean, polished and ready to enjoy makes it worth it.

Unappreciated? Maybe. Unnecessary? Definitely not.
Occasionally we have a client who doesn’t particularly like our little towel bows or folded toilet paper displays — and that’s absolutely fine.
But today I had a conversation with someone who felt these small touches were a waste of time.
For us, they’re not.
They take seconds, but they serve a purpose.
Firstly, they are often the last thing we do in a room. When I’m overseeing a team and managing time, I can walk through a property and immediately see which areas are completely finished and which still need attention.
Secondly, we work in some very high-end homes and properties where presentation matters. I purposely keep our standards high because it keeps the whole team on their game. Once you start letting the little things slide, it can very quickly have a flow-on effect into everything else.
And thirdly, high standards are what we promote our business on.
It takes almost no extra time to fluff cushions, straighten a throw, reposition ornaments, fold a towel or add that finishing touch. In fact, doing those things gives us one final moment to stop, look around the room and make sure absolutely nothing has been missed.
It isn’t just about making things look pretty.
It’s part of our process.
It’s part of our standard.
And quite simply…
Because that’s what we do. 🤍

You can’t see it in this video but there is a thick layer of dust over all areas, it usually takes a few rounds of vacuuming to completely remove all the dust over a period of time. There is also thick black mold in the window frames and tracks which is quite normal for this time of the year but a very fiddly and time consuming job!
These girls are “Super Stars!!” They will go the extra mile for our clients!

We’ve been a little quiet on here lately — taking a much-needed break, surviving one very eventful Bali trip and enjoying a bit of downtime through the quieter season.
