Bye bye, LYF!
She served us well, but it’s time for an upgrade! 🚐✨
As we refresh our fleet, LYF is officially off on her next adventure. Thanks for the memories!
When the nearest town is 50 minutes away, suddenly not being able to drive is a big deal.
After rupturing her right Achilles tendon, Cherie found herself in a moon boot and unable to use the pedals in her usual vehicle. Living rurally, she needed something that could handle the local terrain too.
We matched Cherie with an AWD Subaru fitted with hand controls, delivered it directly to her home and spent time helping her feel comfortable and confident behind the wheel.
With support from Freedom Mobility and ACC, Cherie was able to keep her independence throughout her recovery.

For Fergus, learning to drive was about more than getting behind the wheel, it was about building confidence and independence. 🚗💪 We were proud to provide a hire car over several months to support him on that journey.

We now groom our vehicles in-house, giving our team even more oversight before each one heads out to a customer.
From cleaning the interior to making sure everything is tidy and ready to go, it’s another part of how we take the stress out of hiring a vehicle.
Because when you’re dealing with an injury, planning an accessible trip or arranging transport for someone you care for, the little things matter too.

A little birthday celebration in the Freedom Mobility office! 🎂🎈
No birthday goes unnoticed around here - especially when there’s cake involved. We hope our birthday girl had a brilliant day! 💚
What are the odds? Two Achilles injuries, just three weeks apart.
Leana and Mark took up pickleball as a fun way to stay active. Instead, they both ruptured their right Achilles tendon - leaving neither of them able to drive their usual car.
For Mark, driving is a big part of his work, including visiting clients across rural Southland. For Leana, relying on taxis quickly became frustrating and limiting.
A hand-control car through ACC changed that. After some patient instruction from Ange at Freedom Mobility, they were both back behind the wheel and able to keep working, get to appointments and manage everyday life during their recovery.
Their story is a great reminder that support may be available when an injury stops you from using standard foot controls.
Watch Leana and Mark’s story, and if you’re in a similar situation, have a chat with your ACC recovery team or contact Freedom Mobility.

New controls can take a little getting used to, so we’ll show you how everything works and help you feel confident before you hit the road. 🚗🙌

When ACC approves a modified rental, they send us a referral and purchase order for your hire. We then call you, talk through your injury and driving needs, and set up a vehicle with the right mods and, (if you need it), some instruction.
Got ACC approval or thinking about it? Visit freedommobility.co.nz/acc‑funded‑rentals and chat with our team.
