We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing equipment hire business seeking a skilled Workshop Mechanic or Service technicians to join their Kalgoorlie-based team.

If you come from a mechanical fitting, plant, automotive or similar mechanical background, this could be a great opportunity to transfer your skills into the equipment hire industry.
Our client is looking for someone with strong mechanical aptitude, a positive attitude and a genuine commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Please note: This is a Kalgoorlie-based role and is not FIFO. Candidates must be willing to live and work locally in Kalgoorlie.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:30 am to 4:30 pm.

The Role:
Working as part of an experienced and supportive team, you will assist with maintaining and servicing a diverse equipment fleet. Responsibilities will include:
Scheduled servicing, maintenance and inspections
Fault finding, diagnostics and mechanical repairs
Maintaining equipment to manufacturer, company and Australian standards
Workshop-based repairs and maintenance
Occasional field service work at client sites when required
Maintaining accurate standards of safety and workmanship
Working collaboratively with customers, suppliers and internal teams
About You:
We'd like to hear from candidates with experience as a:
Workshop Mechanic
Automotive Mechanic
Plant Mechanic
Service Technician
Or a suitably experienced tradesperson with transferable mechanical skills
You will ideally have:
A relevant mechanical trade qualification
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
Good communication and interpersonal skills
A proactive, can-do attitude
The ability to work independently and as part of a team
A strong commitment to workplace safety
A valid driver's licence
The ability to complete a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol testing

You are trade qualified, you have mining experience, and you do not need someone checking over your shoulder to get the job done right. You want a roster that is predictable, a great team to work with, opportunities to develop and pay that matches your experience.

What You Will Do

Service, diagnose and repair CAT haul trucks (777), loaders (980), dozers (D10T) and graders (16M) to major maintenance standard

Carry out scheduled servicing, component change outs and preventative maintenance

across a range of heavy mining equipment

Diagnose and resolve faults across hydraulics and powertrain systems

Complete work orders, service sheets and all site documentation accurately and on time

Maintain a clean, safe workshop and actively participate in all site safety processes

Support the broader maintenance crew and flag issues early before they become bigger problems

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

Recognised Australian trade certificate in Mobile Plant Technology, Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent (Cert III minimum)

At least 3 years post trade experience on heavy mobile

Queensland High Risk Work Licence with Working at Heights, LF Forklift, EWP and Dogman, gaps considered if you can close them within your first three months

Current C class driver's licence (HR or MR is a bonus)

Ability to pass a pre employment medical and drug and alcohol screen before you mobilise

Full, ongoing work rights, this role is not open to candidates requiring visa sponsorship
