AM Landscape Design

This laneway project in Auckland C*D received a diamond award at the 2026 Biophilic design awards. Interior plant company Outside In engaged me to assist with design and plant placement. "Guided by Kaitiakitanga— the Māori principle of guardianship—layered native trees, ferns and groundcovers transform the space into a living expression of New Zealand’s native bush. Immersive planting, light and natural forms create a restorative urban sanctuary where nature, culture and people connect." So cool to see this mature and receive recognition for its role in greening our city. 🌴🏙🏆 https://www.outsidein.com/ https://www.facebook.com/IPIAalliance

Waimahia school entrance pathway. Formerly a vacant lawn now both parents and children can enjoy this gathering space at the 4pm rush hour.

Transformation to come for this Grey Lyn backyard. Currently the yard is spilt into two levels making it unusable. Spoil from the pool dig will be used to fill the lower side creating a sunken deck area for a gas fireplace and a seamless connection from lawn to pool area.

Busy week supervising planting at the new Taranaki Base hospital. Over 2500 plants carefully placed ready for the team @ It was a real privilege to be apart of such an important public project from design to implementation. I look forward to seeing the plants mature across all areas including the main entrance, sw pond and a cool shaded void garden.

Planting in the storm great fun😄

'Design for a cave' Design should celebrate place and context. This design on the edge of a Mt Eden lava flow draws attention to the textures and uniqueness of this feature. Cant wait to see the glow of the fire upon the rock face at night!

Design render of a new rural property in Mangawhai. I think the client will have to have it after seeing this!

In 2025, I completed a Certificate in Permaculture Design. I endeavour to apply these learnings within my garden design practice. This approach goes beyond purely sustainable and organic gardening; it considers how a landscape can function as a living system, where each element interacts to support and benefit both people and the wider environment.🏡

Key aspects of this approach include building and nurturing soil health, incorporating companion planting strategies, designing with resilient and renewable resources, and fostering community engagement. 🌻 The aim is to create gardens that are productive, regenerative, and deeply connected to their site and neighbourhood context.
Below is my own vegetable garden, where I have begun observing and 'experimenting'. 😃 I look forward to this new journey of discovering the opportunities permaculture can bring for my clients, friends and family.
