I first tried Reiki by accident

I never would have knowingly booked in for a Reiki session. I didnt believe in that sort of thing.

At the time, I was working as a General Manager of a law firm and I was pretty sceptical about anything I couldn’t see, measure or explain.

So how did I end up becoming a Reiki teacher?

I’ve shared the story of how I first accidentally tried Reiki and why it changed the direction of my life.

Meet Sirpa, Yoga and Reiki teacher.

You won’t hear Sirpa describe herself as an energy healer. Quite the opposite.

She believes we are each responsible for our own healing journey. Her role is not to fix people or tell them what they need, but to share what she has learned through many years of practising and teaching yoga and Reiki, and offer tools that might help people along their own way.

For Sirpa, yoga and Reiki are practices rather than quick fixes. They have both taught her a lot about slowing down, paying attention, being present and getting to know yourself a little better.

My reflections on the Reflections on Reiki Conference

I’ve finally had a chance to reflect on the Reiki NZ Conference in Christchurch. It was my first Reiki conference, and I came away feeling really inspired by the openness, diversity and willingness to share within the Reiki community.

Thank you to Reiki NZ Inc for inviting me to be part of such a well organised and enjoyable event. I’ve shared some of my reflections, along with a few of the ideas and conversations that stayed with me.

Reflections on Reiki - ReikiNZ Conference 2026 Come down to our Pukekohe yoga and reiki studio to enjoy a traditional yoga practice creating strength, balance & mindfulness. A place for your body to open up and stretch releasing built-up tension. We offer something for everyone with Hatha Yoga, meditation, yoga nidra, pregnancy yoga, kids classe...

Wonderful first day at the Reflections of Reiki Conference! It was a real privilege to be presenting alongside these fabulous ladies! Bronwen Logan and Nicola Lincoln Wellness Ltd. Huge thanks to Reiki NZ Inc for an amazing day - cant wait to come back for more tomorrow!

I had the most amazing massage with Linnette Breathe - Massage Therapy and Reiki today, and it was exactly what I needed.

I’ve been feeling a bit run down lately and, if I’m honest, haven’t been looking after myself as well as I know I should. Today was a much-needed pause, reset and reminder to take a little time for myself.

I felt a little tender afterwards, but also somehow a few inches taller walking out! My body definitely needed it.

So, if you’re feeling like you could do with a bit of TLC, I highly recommend booking in with Linnette. Your body will thank you for it!

Breathe - Massage Therapy and Reiki I’m Linnette the owner of Breathe - Massage Therapy and Reiki. In today’s, fast-paced, high-stress world, my goal is to create a space where you can slow down, reconnect, and nurture your mind, body, and soul.

It is so interesting to learn more about Mikao Usui's life. There has been much speculation and almost every book I read offers a different opinion. Having real evidence based facts is incredibly valuable. Thank you so much Justin B. Stein - Reiki Research for sharing your work!

What a truly wonderful weekend! Huge congratulations to our newest students for completing the Reiki level 1 course. Your energy, open hearts, and beautiful growth inspired me so much. I am so proud of you all and cannot wait to see where your reiki journey takes you.

Teaching Reiki is such a privilege and joy... best of all it brings the most amazing people into my life! What a pleasure it was to spend a weekend in chilly Christchurch watching this group of incredible souls explore, expand and connect. 🤲💗🤲
