Beautiful Auckland, City of Sails & 53 Mountains and countless waterways ⛵🌄 ...

Which means the necessity of a lot of retaining walls & drainage networks

Auckland, we have you covered!

This project in Avondale, showcases the effectiveness of tied-back anchoring systems in stabilising compromised land following a major slip - approx .12.5m wide - triggered by the extreme flood events of January 2023

For this job, we used the Platipus tied-back anchoring system, installed an adequate drainage network for the proposed retaining structures, and reinstated the collapsed deck and driveway.

This project successfully transformed a highly compromised site into a safe and durable environment for the homeowner.

Thanks Team!

Engineering & Architectural Appreciation Post 👀 🏗 ⚒

++ The Audain Art Museum, Blackcomb Mountain, Whistler, BC, Canada ++

The design of this museum is shaped by three powerful determinants: galleries exhibiting both permanent & temporary art; the beautiful but challenging site in Whistler which, although is set amongst a beautiful evergreen forest, happens to be located within the floodplain of Fitzsimmons Creek, and lastly the enormous snowfall typical of Whistler which averages nearly 40 feet annual accumulated depth.

A truly remarkable engineering & architectural feat; bold yet such a beautiful, peaceful place to be at one in nature & art.

Is your home 'safe as houses'? 👀🏠🛑

Erosion, coupled with bad weather & sloped sites, can, over time wear away at the very foundations that secure your home to the ground.

We can help make sure your home is secure and not going anywhere when/if the next storm hits.

Have you seen the incredible Home of the Year 2025 Brutalist Piha Bunker? 👊🏠

A minimal, brutalist pavilion balanced on sharp, concrete V stilts; what an incredible architectural & engineering feat!

Glenn & his wife Jynel came across it on a recent visit to the rugged west coast town and although not one of our projects, we do appreciate the fine design & mahi that went into getting this project off the ground, literately!

Here's a sneaky peak of a project we're currently working on Waiheke Island 👀

Project Scope: A 3-storied new build home on the Island, which includes retaining wall design, membrane deck design, and foundation block walls. The structure consists of approximately 7–8 steel beams with a maximum span of 7.4m. The scope also includes roof framing design and steel connection details.

Challenges: Poor ground conditions on a slope site, meant timber piles needed to extend to approximately 4m depth into competent strata.

Yet great collaboration with the Architect & Geotech Engineer has produced a cost-effective design.

And on-going support from our Proconsult Team with the construction team onsite is helping with great progress of this project.

Looks amazing team!

Want to remove a wall to create an open-plan living space in your home?

STOP! ✋🚫🛑

The removal of a load-bearing wall requires an Engineer to create a design to ensure a proper load transfer structure that meets compliance within NZ Safety Standards.

For this 2-storied project, we needed to design integrating steel beams for load-bearing capacity, and ensure proper connections for stairs and external deck framing.

We made sure we not only did this but also co-ordinated with the contractor to resolve any site constraints and ensure correct design and installation of structural elements.

Client is very happy with the outcome - thanks team!

Job well done 👊

Have you been for a walk along New Plymouths' Coastal Walkway yet?

Last weekend, Glenn & his wife Jynel headed down to visit family and enjoyed checking out some outstanding Engineering feats on the Walkway that are standing the test of time.

For over 100 years old, the old Lighthouse Seawall Wharf has a concrete interlocking system that serves as strong barrier against the unforgiving west coast, as well a great spot for fishing snapper 🎣🎏

At the other end of the walkway, the Te Rewarewa Bridge, constructed in 2010, over the Whaiwhakaiho River, is a beautiful steel arch that not only frames the mighty Mt Taranaki on a sunny day, but also honours the deceased on the Rewarewa side of the river, by 'touching lightly' on its banks (no cable stays here)

Next time you're there, do check them out 👀
