Finally introducing our very first foal of the season: Redwall Fire & Ice! π₯π§
This little c**t is an absolute stunner... and what an arrival to kick things off. He is out of our superstar purebred Welsh mare Firefly (Escapade Prohibition) and by purebred Gypsy Cob Ashmoor Hustlers Traveller (by The Hustler).
Firefly has delivered something very special here... He is minimal tobiano with two blue eyes, and we are pretty certain heβs a double dilute (carrying two cream genes)! Not entirely sure between perlino (we think that's the one due to the ear tips!) and smoky cream at the moment, so we will get him colour tested shortly.
Mum did another brilliant job, and Ice is already proving to be such a cool, confident little dude out in the paddock. Welcome to the world, little guy! π€

I have been an absolute shocker at keeping this page updated, especially with so much going on over the past year. I'm genuinely embarrassed!
The ponies have all been thriving. Every single foal from last season went off to an incredible home following their foal handling, and I'll see about sharing a few updates on how they are getting on if their owners are keen.
The biggest news right now though is that foaling season has officially kicked off! We welcomed our very first foal of the season, and trust me... you are not ready (I wasn't π). Keep your eyes peeled! π΄β¨
Just a big cuddle from last year's foals to brighten your feed...

Hair samples are off for DNA testing! Horse registration often includes DNA parentage testing, which is the case for the NZ GypsyCob Association (NZGCA).
People often ask why we go through the paperwork, the expense, and - to be honest - the hassle of registering every single one of our foals, including partbreds. While a horse without papers can be a lovely companion, for us, it is a service we provide to our buyers that guarantees our work.
Why we do it:
β
Registration provides absolute proof of parentage and a certified date of birth. So, you get exactly what is advertised.
β
If you intend to breed your pony, registration is essential for making informed choices for the future, as well as preventing inbreeding.
β
Many shows and breed classes require official registration to enter. Without it, your options can be limited.
β
If you ever need to sell, registered horses appeal to a broader range of serious buyers and competitive riders, which protects the pony's value.
β
Registration gives you access to a supportive network of association members and breed enthusiasts. It also connects you with breed-specific judges who can provide expert opinions on conformation and movement for instance.
Again, while there is absolutely nothing wrong with non-registered horses, if you ever want or need to register one later, be aware it is often not possible. It can be very expensive (late registration fees, for instance) and complex - often involving contacting multiple people or needing to get other horses in the line registered first.
That's why we do the legwork now so our buyers have total peace of mind later.

GG Gracie and her filly Redwall Gazette.

A quick update about our former breeding stallion, Sunriver Rise and Shine (3/4 Gypsy Cob | 11.3hh).
Shine has been a super gelding pony these past few months and is adjusting brilliantly to his new, chill life - he's definitely more focused on grass than ladies now! Winter went very well, aside from the fact he completely clipped off all his feathers π€¦ββοΈ (which never happened when he was a stallion!). He worked hard on turning his muscles into fat, was lightly started and nothing seemed to be bothering him.
Last weekend, Shine was off on a new adventure! Heβs been leased out to be adored, brushed and pampered by children as a lead rein pony.
Weβll miss him, but we're super happy for him to have this opportunity. We can't wait to have him back home with us in a year or two! Go shine, big boy! π

Look at what we've got delivered this morning! π»
What a beautiful morning (before a terrible rainy afternoon) for welcoming Redwall Gazette to the world! Gazette is slightly underbaked - Gracie could not wait any longer to meet her filly, apparently π
But mama and baby are doing absolutely awesome. Gazette is full of beans, just like her half-sister Gambit was last year!
Redwall Gazette is 7/8 Gypsy Cob (slightly over, 90.65% to be exact) out of GillysGypsyCobs Gracie, by Sunriver GypsyPonies Duke. She is not currently colour tested, but is likely E/E, a/a, DW20/?, EXDW3/?
She also carries at least one copy of the H2 gene (which may result in a decreased size, averaging 18 cm or 2 hands, as compared to like-bred siblings or breed members).

Hello, handsome π
A couple of photos of Sunriver Duke in the paddock this morning.

It's definitely dryer in the shed! We've only just brought Bluebell and her little c**t inside, but crazy enough, visitors came to meet the babies and instantly fell in love with this little chap, who's already found a new home!
Since he didn't have a name yet, his lucky new owners got the opportunity to name him - introducing Redwall Blue Max π΄
Blue Max is 15/16 (93.75%) Gypsy Cob, by the handsome Sunriver Duke and out of our sweet GG Bluebell.
And.... He will be travelling to his new home with his half-sister, Redwall Over the Moon, who will be going at the same time in a few months, once they are weaned and trained. We are absolutely thrilled with this lovely outcome! π

After making us wait for days, Bluebell finally decided to foal - right in the middle of the day and in the terrible weather on Labour Day!
Itβs a cute little guy π₯° We sent both mama and bubba to dry off in the stables for a couple of days. More photos to come!

Sunriver Duke is standing at stud this season!
We're thrilled to offer our amazing small purebred Gypsy Cob stallion, Sunriver Duke, for outside mares this breeding season.
Duke is an exceptional boy. Weβre happy to offer his services for both purebred Gypsy Cob mares and non-Gypsy Cob mares. He would be ideal for adding a little more bone and feather to lighter mares. He has the sweetest, most gentle nature and like his Sire (the awesome Swanhaven Boots 'N All) before him consistently passes on his beautiful temperament.
Live cover, paddock served only. Get in touch for details about stud contract and bookings!
