This Cooks Beach kitchen was installed back in 2023 but has somehow never made it to the grid until now! The design balances dark drama with natural light, creating a striking contrast against the ocean views beyond. Textural elements like the Wovenpanel doors and Corian Lava Rock benchtop add depth and
sophistication to the space. Better late than never 🖤

Here are some beautiful close-up details from this multi-award-winning kitchen in Mount Maunganui. Soft muted neutrals create a relaxed, coastal atmosphere, complementing the views. Textural layering of natural materials—timber veneer, recycled European Oak, Travertine, and Charleston Limestone—along with a mix of soft curves and linear forms, help to evoke a Spanish beach house feel.

Winner of the outstanding renovation category at the NKBA 2025 Excellence in Design Awards, this kitchen’s design respects the home’s historic integrity. Panelled cabinetry was hand painted to allow the brushstrokes to remain visible, while finishes such as granite and stainless-steel echo the tradition and utility of the era. This kitchen is a thoughtful fusion of heritage and function; a working heart of the 102-year-old home, warm with history, open to the future, and designed for a life well lived!

Still pinching myself that this kitchen has been selected as one of six finalists for the .nz Kitchen of the Year Award! Being nominated alongside such exceptional designs from incredibly talented designers is both humbling and exhilarating.

This project holds a special place in my heart as one of the career highlights so far. Having the opportunity to collaborate with a returning
client, combined with working alongside such skilled craftspeople, made creating this space an absolute joy from concept to completion.

The recognition means the world to me, but more importantly, it’s a testament to the incredible team effort that brought this vision to life.

A candid shot taken of Jenny and at the photo shoot of one of Designmarked’s favourite projects to date. We have to keep this one under wraps for a while, but boy are we excited to share it!

In this small but perfectly formed beach house, Jenny took inspiration from the angled walls when designing the dining table. Made from reclaimed oak, and sitting atop custom designed steel powder coated legs, the solidity of the wood is balanced with the lightness of the steel. The perfect spot to eat your brekkie while getting lost in the views of the ocean beyond…
