As our term comes to an end - myself, and the team would like to sincerely thank our wonderful, supportive families and our hardworking tamariki.
My team and I work hard to be the best we can be, and provide an excellent service. We also recognise the support of parents who drive their kids to tutoring, who supervise their homework and provide emotional support and “persuasion”.
But most of all we would all like to say thank you to our students - who we KNOW, and enjoy and like! Who make our job so worthwhile. We acknowledge that coming to tutoring is often not what a child wants to do- so the fact they show up with a smile on their face, work hard each and every lesson is a testament to their good character and willingness to be the best they can be.
Wishing you all a safe and happy holiday.
See you in term 4.

I watched this and decided to (badly) video it and comment. This is our tutoring model to a t! Helping students develop resilience and independence. I often get asked if we do 1-1 tutoring. Whilst we do a LOT of 1-1 specific teaching, we don’t believe it helps develop a healthy independence for the student to rely on us for 1-1. At the end of the day the student has to be able to practice , fail, relearn and learn. We don’t sit beside them at school, so they have to become able, confident and proficient independent learners.
Well worth a watch if you can find it on tv3 on demand.

WHAT MAKES IN2LEARNING DIFFERENT?

People. ❤️
Locals. Committed to local kids. Teachers who have worked in Dunedin (and some continue to do so).

Not worksheets.
Not computers.
Not a one-size-fits-all programme.

People.

People who care deeply about what we do.

Our team are educators, teachers, mothers and grandmothers. We are specialists in our fields and people with real-life experience of learning barriers such as ADHD, autism and dyslexia and dyscalculia.

Some of us have experienced those challenges ourselves and some have children who have struggled.

So we get it.

We understand the frustration.
The worry.
The battles over homework.
The moments when a child starts to believe they “can’t”.

And we understand just how powerful it can be when someone finally says:

“I’ve got you. Let’s work this out together.”

Because my tutors don’t simply turn up to work.

They care about their students.

They build relationships.
They learn what makes each child tick.
They notice when a child needs a little more help — or a little more encouragement.
They celebrate the small wins.
And they genuinely want to see every child make progress.

We know our kids.

And that matters.

Because behind every learning gap is a child who deserves to feel capable, valued, heard and supported.

That’s In2learning.

Real people. Real relationships. Real teaching. Real care. 💙💚

YOU CAN’T BUILD A STRONG HOUSE ON WEAK FOUNDATIONS.

Maths works a bit like that.

If a child hasn’t securely developed an earlier skill, the next skill can become harder…

…and the next one harder again.

Eventually, maths starts to feel overwhelming.

That’s why effective mathematics teaching needs to be sequential.

🧩 Identify the missing piece.
🧠 Teach it clearly.
✏️ Practise it.
💬 Give feedback.
✅ Make it secure.
➡️ Then build on it.

This is one of the principles behind our maths programme at In2learning.

We’re not interested in simply racing children through content.

We’re interested in building the skills underneath it.

Because sometimes progress isn’t about going faster.

🌱 It’s about making the foundations stronger.
