We were engaged by Hope and Sons Funeral Directors of Dunedin to manufacture a special addition to one of their fleet. A rear deck, with a central telescoping centre section, to alleviate back strain, over the tail door, and also a special lift function to allow the special load to be viewed. This was a special project that uses a very ingenious lift function. All three elements, the structure, the centre section, plus the lift system, were all designed to be kept within a strict 100mm minimum height to ensure a low loading height. This was a fantastic project and called on a number of skills.

Merry Christmas to all our customers and friends of Eclipse Engineering!
We are taking a few weeks off to recharge and use the break to get a few loose ends tidied up and get a few steps closer to getting the workshop extension completed.
Good things take time :-)
We'd like to thank all our customers that have supported us this past year.
We hope that everyone enjoys the festive break, to relax with friends and family and keep safe this holiday season!
Eat, drink and be Merry! :-)
Here's a few pictures of some jobs we've completed at Eclipse Engineering over the past year.
Merry Christmas!

Exciting times! After years of waiting for those little ducks to finally waddle in a row, work has started on our wee workshop extension. We're still open and trading as usual, but site access is very limited at present. Please do not access the site, instead give me a call on the celly and I'll come see you outside. π

We hope everyone is having a relaxing Matariki spent with family and friends.
It's been quite a while since the last update, but it's never been more an appropriate time to make an announcement!
Eclipse Engineering Ltd has joined the space race! π
Ok, ok we're not intending to go to Mars or make parts for NASA (just yet π) but have been making some pretty neat stuff in order to view the stars.
We were contracted to make a pretty slick camera mounting system for an observatory. With NZ's notoriety for having great Dark Sky areas, there's quite a few people building observatories in their backyards to view the heavens.
Our system is modular and primarily setup for two main lenses, with a third smaller or local lens and plenty of mounting points for servos, power supplies, etc. It's made very rigid, but very light, for both lens alignment performance.
It turned out very nice - what do you think? π
Included is a few shots of what's been seen - the observatory is in a dark area with nil light pollution, so amazing images can be recorded.

We were asked to design and make a special probe holder for the team at Roscoes Rewinds and Repairs. It's used to hold a probe that has a small roller stylus. It locks in a carbon brush holder on a big traction motor. The motor is slowly rotated with the stylus in contact with the commutator to give a reading of the concentricity or wear on the comm. ultimately giving an indication of motor performance. Nice job and pleasure to be trusted by yet another firm to get them a win!
