Developing strong partnerships is a great PR strategy for building brand trust.

“One way that we built trust was really authentic value-adding partnerships with trusted brands, trust by association, and then doing things that they could see a real impact from.”

This is one of many PR strategy discussions we had with AJ Tills on our latest CRUNCH podcast episode about his time launching Uber into New Zealand.

Brand trust impacts business growth.

“Where we knew that there was a strong reputational risk, and reputational risk would impact trust and trust would impact the ability to be able to grow, we really invested a lot in making sure that the way that we were representing ourselves was fair.”

This is one of many insights AJ Tills shares in our latest CRUNCH podcast episode about his time on the team who launched Uber into New Zealand.

“Attach your messages to exactly what people are wanting to hear, make it relevant to them, be authentic. To do that takes a specialist communications team - communications professionals that actually understand how to communicate a proposition so that it lands.”

AJ Tills recommends using the ‘sunlight test’ to get your message right. Is it:

*Authentic?
*Real?
*Is its impact true?

This is one of many learnings AJ shares in our latest CRUNCH podcast episode about his time working on the team who launched Uber into New Zealand.

Launching Uber in New Zealand: From Controversy to Credibility 10/09/2026

This conversation with AJ Tills - Uber's first NZ employee - is one of our best podcasts yet! He talks about the challenges of launching Uber into Auckland back when drivers around the world were protesting the service.

Building trust, confidence and simply educating a market on something so new. . . AJ has many lessons for others looking to launch their own products into a new market.

We have been helping Cancer Society Waikato/Bay of Plenty to tell their story for many years now, which is an absolute privilege.

On Tuesday, Natalie spent the morning at Cancer Society’s Lions Lodge with the Waikato Times, where Cancer Care Navigator Janelle Rawiri talked about the work she does every day supporting people through a cancer journey. The resulting story is in today’s Waikato Times – very fittingly, on Daffodil Day.

Demand for Cancer Society services are at an all-time high, with one in three Kiwis now likely to received a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime.

A prolonged cost-of-living crisis also continues to put pressure on the support networks Kiwis have traditionally relied on when cancer strikes.

The Cancer Society Waikato/Bay of Plenty relies heavily on the money raised through Daffodil Day to keep its services available. including cancer care navigation, transport, accommodation and practical support for people and whānau across our region.

So if you see a collector today, please give generously. Or make a donation online at www.daffodilday.org.nz

As a charity, they are reliant on our generosity to ensure nobody in our community has to face cancer alone.

Looks of relief after making it out of the podcast hot seat! 🎙️😅

But it was a great conversation.

Where do you even begin when you’re trying to grow a service that many of the people who need it don’t realise is for them?

That was the challenge at the heart of the Private Wealth campaign we’ve been working on with Grayson Clements.

Heather and Emma sat down with Andrew Clements and Kristy Miller to talk about why this wasn’t simply a marketing or sales challenge, the role communications has played in educating audiences and changing perceptions, and — most importantly — what that has meant for the business.
