Huge congratulations to Dr Elizabeth Green and the Exisle Publishing team on No Time for Makeup making the WA Premier’s Book Awards shortlist. We had a lot of fun creating the cover for this one, great to see it getting this recognition! 🥰
While we excitedly wait to find out the winners of this year's WA Premier's Book Awards , we want to celebrate one of our titles which made it to the shortlist: No Time for Makeup.
✈️ Written by Dr Elizabeth Green, this is the incredible story of a woman who took the path less travelled to work for the Royal Flying Doctor Service in outback Australia, and what the experience taught her about life, death and human connection.
‘A girl from the bush becomes a flying doctor and a paediatrician — a compelling story of courage, determination and, above all, professional dedication, filled with gratitude for those who helped her along the way.’
— Jay Weatherill, former Premier of South Australia
About the author:
Dr Elizabeth Green graduated from Melbourne University in 1982. She worked in hospitals and in rural and city general practice before landing a job with the Royal Flying Doctor Service in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. The children of the outback inspired her to become a paediatrician, a passion lived for twenty-four years as a private paediatrician in Perth/Boorloo and ongoing, shouting out for children to be seen and heard.

If you’re an author looking to turn your book cover into animated content for launches, reels or social media, this is exactly the kind of thing we love creating 🥰
Our South Island shoot was postponed by some pretty foul weather, which unexpectedly gave us the chance to jump into something completely different: a music video. 6am start. Riverside. Mist on the water. A beautiful sunrise. And at one point, a microphone stolen by a dog.
Creative work is a bit like that. Make a plan, stay flexible, and be ready to follow the interesting stuff when it appears.

Some weeks don’t go to plan, and that’s where the good stuff can happen.
Our Bee Creative South Island shoot was postponed by foul weather, which unexpectedly opened the door to something completely different: a music video.
6am start. Riverside. Mist on the water. A beautiful sunrise. A microphone briefly stolen by a dog. And through it all, beautiful music from Wildhorse.
A good reminder of why we love creative work: you make a plan, stay open to what happens next, and sometimes end up somewhere even better.
We love seeing this one out in the wild 🥰

Is building a website about to become the easy part?
OpenAI’s latest move into website building got me thinking about what this means for Base44, smaller CMS platforms, hosting companies...and businesses paying for digital projects.
My view is that the technology has never been the most important part.
I’ve always thought of a successful digital project as roughly ¾ understanding the business and its customers, and ¼ technical implementation.
AI is making that 25% dramatically easier and cheaper. That should give us more time to focus on the bit that actually matters: what are we building, who is it for, and how does it connect with everything else the business is doing?
I’ve written a few thoughts about where I think this is heading. Link in the comments.
If you run a business, build websites, or work in digital, I’d be genuinely interested to hear what you think. Where does the value move when building the technology itself becomes cheap?

Sometimes work takes you to unexpected places 🕷️
Today’s detour: a documentary exploring spiders, drugs, and the surprisingly specific ways different substances affect web design.
Nature is wild. Peer review pending 😂
