Our Global Mini Movement September 2026 virtual challenge has officially come to an end, and what a month it was!

What an amazing 30 days of movement, motivation and miniature horse love!
And one very special little mini, Legacy!💚

And if you’re travelling internationally, you don’t need to bring a horse all the way to New Zealand — we have a limited number of our Born to Run horses available for competitors to use.

You don’t need to be an ultra runner either. We welcome everyone from people taking on their first big endurance challenge to experienced ultra athletes looking for something completely different.

This is part race, part adventure and one very good excuse to come to New Zealand. 🇳🇿

Miniature horses aren't lawn ornaments; they're horses.

They love getting out. They love exploring. They can become incredibly fit. And they're capable of SO much more than many people realise.

South islanders, The Southern Stampede is your chance to discover exactly what your little horse can do. So if you have a little horse in in your paddock, this is the time to get out and have some fun together.

In February 2027, we're heading into the beautiful South Island high country for four days of adventure racing.
You can WALK or RUN.

You can bring your own miniature horse or donkey.
And you certainly don't need to be the fastest team there.
We want to see people getting outside, getting active and having adventures with their horses.

Because exercise, enrichment, movement and having a purpose are all part of good equine welfare... and lets be honest good for people too.

And while you're giving your own horse an incredible experience, your entry is helping us rescue other little horses who haven't been so lucky.

And every entry helps us continue our work rescuing and rehabilitating miniature horses.

WORRIED YOU’RE NOT FIT ENOUGH TO ENTER?

Don’t let that stop you.

One of the best things about Born to Run Adventure Racing is that you don’t need to be an athlete to get started.
We’ve had people enter who have never even completed a 5km event, right through to experienced ultra runners looking for their next challenge. We have families, fitness fanatics and people who have just bought their first ever set of running shoes.

These events are meant to be FUN. They’re about setting yourself a goal, getting out with your horse and seeing what the two of you can achieve together.

And we’ll help you get there.

Once you decide to take on the Southern Stampede or Great Northern Gallop, we can give you loads of information to help you prepare, including:

Fitness and training tips for your horse
Fitness and training ideas for YOU
Gear and equipment suggestions
Horse feed and nutrition suggestions for training and race days
Advice on preparing for the distances
Tips for keeping your horse comfortable, happy and healthy along the way
Plus plenty of information from people who have actually done it before!

You don’t have to be race-ready when you enter.
Entering gives you something to GET ready for.
Whether your goal is to race hard, walk every kilometre, or simply cross the finish line alongside your little horse, there’s a place for you.

So stop thinking “I could never do that…”

And start thinking “Maybe I could.” ❤️🐴
