Severe bleeding is a medical emergency that requires immediate action.

Applying firm, direct pressure to a wound can help slow or stop bleeding while waiting for emergency services to arrive.

Knowing what to do in those first critical moments can make a significant difference to the outcome.

First aid skills aren't just for the workplace—they can help protect your whānau, friends, and community too.

Would you know how to respond if someone was experiencing severe bleeding?

👉 Confidence starts with first aid training.

Hazards don't need to cause an incident before action is taken.

One of the most effective ways to prevent injuries is to identify and report hazards before someone gets hurt.

Whether it's damaged equipment, a trip hazard, poor lighting, or an unsafe process, speaking up can help protect your team and create a safer workplace for everyone.

If you see something that could cause harm, don't walk past it.

👉 Building safer workplaces and stronger communities.

Most people don't think about emergency exits until they need one.

In an emergency, knowing the quickest and safest way out of a building can save valuable time and help reduce confusion and panic.

Take a moment today to identify your nearest exit, alternative exit routes, and your workplace assembly point.

If an alarm sounded right now, would you know exactly where to go?

Te Reo Tuku Iho | What we learn, we carry forward

Today brings us to the final day of Te Wiki o te Reo Māori.

The kaupapa is Te Reo Tuku Iho - carrying te reo Māori forward for future generations.

Education is ultimately about passing something forward.

Knowledge.

Skills.

Confidence.

Experience.

At Links Training, we see this every day.

Someone learns how to respond in an emergency and takes that knowledge back to their workplace, their whānau and their community.

Knowledge becomes powerful when it is carried forward.

Te reo Māori is something we can carry forward too.

Every kupu we learn.

Every phrase we become confident enough to speak.

Every time we make space for te reo in our classrooms and workplaces.

Every opportunity we give the next generation to hear and use the language.

Te Wiki may finish today, but our learning doesn't need to.

So our challenge is simple:

What is one piece of te reo Māori you learned this week that you'll keep using?

Keep learning.

Keep practising.

Keep speaking.

Ake, ake, ake - A forever language.

Te Reo i te Kori Tinana | Learning through movement

Today's kaupapa is Te Reo i te Kori Tinana - experiencing te reo Māori through movement, activity and wellbeing.

At Links Training, we're very familiar with learning by doing.

First aid isn't something we learn only from a book.

We practise.

We move.

We demonstrate.

We build confidence through action.

Today, we can take the same approach with te reo Māori.

Heading out for a walk?

Hīkoi - Walk

Going for a run?

Oma - Run

Playing with the tamariki?

Tākaro - Play

Encouraging someone?

Kia kaha! - Keep going! / Be strong!

Movement supports our hauora - wellbeing, and it can also give us another opportunity to learn and use te reo Māori.

So get outside, get moving and take a little reo with you.

Ake, ake, ake - A forever language.

Te Reo Auaha | Find another way to learn

Today's kaupapa is Te Reo Auaha - creativity through te reo Māori.

We all learn differently.

Some of us learn by reading.

Some by listening.

Some by watching.

And many of us learn best by actually doing.

That's something we understand well at Links Training.

So today, find a creative way to bring a little more te reo Māori into your learning.

Label a few everyday objects with their Māori names.

Listen to a waiata.

Create a te reo sign for your workplace.

Practise a phrase with somebody else.

Write down a new kupu somewhere you'll see it every day.

There isn't only one way to learn.

The important thing is that we continue to ako, practise and give it a go.

What creative way could you use to bring more te reo Māori into your day?

Ake, ake, ake - A forever language.

Te Reo i te Hapori | Learning strengthens communities

Today's kaupapa is Te Reo i te Hapori - using te reo Māori together in our communities.

At Links Training, our classrooms connect us with people from workplaces and communities across Aotearoa.

But what happens after someone leaves the classroom matters too.

The knowledge and confidence we gain through learning travels with us.

We take it back to our workplaces.

We take it home to our whānau.

And we carry it into our communities.

The same can happen with te reo Māori.

Every kia ora every nau mai, haere mai, and every new kupu we confidently use helps make te reo Māori a more natural part of everyday life.

Ako is something we do together.

When one person learns and shares what they know, that knowledge can strengthen many others.

So today, share a kupu with somebody in your hapori.

Ake, ake, ake - A forever language.

Te Reo i te Wāhi Mahi | Bring te reo to work

Today's kaupapa is Te Reo i te Wāhi Mahi - making te reo Māori part of the working day.

Many of the learners who come through Links Training are completing training that helps them contribute safely and confidently in their workplaces.

So today we're adding another challenge.

Bring a little more te reo Māori into your mahi.

Start your morning with mōrena.

Welcome someone with kia ora.

Recognise a job well done with ka pai.

Finish an email with ngā mihi.

Small changes can make te reo Māori increasingly familiar and visible in our workplaces.

Learning something new can sometimes feel uncomfortable - whether that's performing CPR for the first time or speaking a new kupu out loud.

Confidence comes through giving it a go.

Ako. Whakamātau. Kōrero.

Learn. Try. Speak.

Ake, ake, ake - A forever language.

Te Reo i te Kāinga | Learning starts at home

Today's kaupapa is Te Reo i te Kāinga - taking te reo Māori home.

Some of our most important learning doesn't happen in a classroom.

It happens around the dinner table, during the morning rush, in conversations with our tamariki and in the small moments we share with whānau.

Bringing te reo Māori into those moments can be simple.

Ata mārie - Good morning
Kei te pēhea koe? - How are you?
Kia pai tō rā - Have a good day
Ka kite - See you

Choose one phrase.

Use it today.

Use it again tomorrow.

Then perhaps add another.

At Links Training, we believe learning builds confidence - and confidence grows through practice.

Ako doesn't have to stop when we leave the classroom.

Ake, ake, ake - A forever language.

A safer workplace starts with looking out for one another.

Checking in with your workmates can help identify safety concerns, reduce stress, and create a culture where people feel supported and valued.

Sometimes a simple conversation can make a bigger difference than we realise.

Who is someone in your workplace you could check in with today?
