LANDSCAPE SURVEY πŸ“Š

How can L&D prove business ROI when almost half the industry doesn't see the budget?

Over three-quarters (77%) of New Zealand learning functions sit inside People & Capability or HR teams.

However, 46.6% of practitioners operate without any visibility into their total annual L&D budget, and only 13.6% feel positioned as true Strategic Drivers in their organisation.

Without budget transparency or seats at the executive table, learning teams are too often pushed into reactive "order-taker" rolesβ€”measured on course completions rather than performance impact.

Want to shift from a reactive training function to a strategic capability partner?

EVENT: As L&D professionals, we spend a lot of time helping others grow. But how often do we think about what keeps us energised?

Whether it's seeing someone have a breakthrough, watching a leader develop, or knowing our work has made a genuine difference, these moments of purpose and connection matter.

At our upcoming Christchurch Hybrid Event, Kathryn Jackson will explore how paying attention to the work that gives us energy can help create more sustainable and meaningful careers.

We'll also have time to connect with fellow L&D professionals, both in person and online.

LANDSCAPE SURVEY πŸ“Š

Moving past kia ora: how are NZ learning teams authentically embedding Te Tiriti?

70% of Aotearoa learning professionals tell us AI integration is their top capability priority for 2026.

While intent across Aotearoa's L&D sector is exceptionally high, 77.3% of teams report operating in an ad-hoc or unsupported capacity regarding Te Ao Māori integration.

In fact, over 60% acknowledge their practice remains limited to basic greetings due to a lack of formal frameworks, confidence, and organisational guidance.

To build genuine bicultural capability across our workforce, we need to bridge the gap between cultural goodwill and practical, relational learning design.

How is your team moving from surface-level gestures to meaningful Te Tiriti practice?
