What an AMAZING first week of our School Holiday Fun Days! 🎉
Our tamariki have absolutely loved getting involved in all the fun, from getting cosy for PJ Day 💤, going prehistoric for Dinosaur Day 🦖, zooming around on Wheels Day 🚲, showing off their creativity on Wacky Hair Day 🤪, and finishing the week with lots of colourful creations for Arts & Crafts Day 🎨🖌️.
There have been so many smiles, laughs, adventures and special moments shared throughout the week. 💛
We can’t wait to see what Week Two brings! 👀✨
🦖 ROOOAAARRR... It’s DINO DAY! 🦖
It’s Dino Day here at the Centre as part of our School Holiday Programme, and our Kiwi Preschool tamariki have been getting creative! 🎨🦕
Together they have made this AMAZING dinosaur, using their imaginations, teamwork and creativity to bring their prehistoric friend to life!
We absolutely love seeing our tamariki working together, sharing ideas and taking such pride in their creations. 💚
What do you think we should name our new dinosaur? 🦖👇

🌞⏰ Daylight Saving Starts This Weekend! ⏰🌞
Just a friendly reminder that Daylight Saving begins this Sunday morning, so don't forget to put your clocks forward by one hour before heading to bed on Saturday night.
For some tamariki, the time change can take a little adjustment. Here are a few simple tips to help make the transition smoother:
✨ Gradually adjust bedtimes by 10-15 minutes each night leading up to Sunday. ✨ Keep bedtime routines consistent with stories, cuddles, and calming activities. ✨ Get plenty of natural sunlight during the day to help reset body clocks.
✨ Limit screens before bed to support a restful night's sleep.
✨ Be patient - it can take a few days for little ones to adjust to the new schedule.
We may have a few sleepy faces at drop-off next week, but tamariki are wonderfully adaptable and will soon settle into the new routine. 😊

This week, our Kiwi Preschool tamariki have been learning about the Tino Rangatiratanga flag and its significance within Aotearoa New Zealand.
Through meaningful conversations, stories, creative experiences, and exploration, our tamariki have been discovering what the colours and symbols represent, including Māori identity, self-determination, and the importance of belonging. These learning experiences help children develop an appreciation for the rich culture, history, and traditions that make Aotearoa unique.
We love seeing our tamariki ask thoughtful questions, share their ideas, and deepen their understanding of the diverse communities around them. ❤️
By weaving te ao Māori into our daily programme, we are supporting children to grow as confident learners who value respect, identity, and connection to people and place.
🌿✨ Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori | Māori Language Week ✨🌿
This week, we are proudly celebrating Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori, embracing opportunities to hear, speak, and learn more of Aotearoa's beautiful indigenous language.
Our tamariki have been absolutely loving the new "Nau Mai, Haere Mai" (Welcome) buttons in our foyer! Each morning has been filled with smiles, laughter, and excitement as children eagerly rush in to press the button and hear the warm welcome. Seeing their delight as they share the experience with their whānau and friends has been a wonderful way to start each day.
These simple moments help create meaningful connections with te reo Māori, building familiarity, confidence, and a sense of belonging within our learning community.
Nau Mai, Haere Mai to all of our whānau as we celebrate Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori together and continue our journey of learning, connection, and cultural appreciation. ❤️🖤🤍

🌟 We're Supporting Onesie Day 2026! 🌟
At Active Explorers Lower Hutt, we're proud to be supporting Onesie Day 2026 to help make a difference for children and families across Aotearoa.
Onesie Day is all about coming together, having a little fun, and raising funds for an incredibly important cause. Our tamariki and teachers will be encouraged to wear their favourite onesies as we help support the amazing work being done by Wellington Free Ambulance 🚑.
Every donation, big or small, can make a meaningful difference.

At Active Explorers Lower Hutt, painting is about so much more than creating artwork. For our Fantail infants and toddlers, painting provides opportunities to explore, discover, and learn through their senses.
As little hands squish, swipe, dab, and spread paint across the paper, tamariki are developing important fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, creativity, and self-expression. Painting also encourages curiosity, supports brain development, and allows children to explore colours, textures, and cause-and-effect in a fun, meaningful way.
Most importantly, painting gives our youngest learners the freedom to express themselves and build confidence as they proudly create something that is uniquely their own. 💛
We love seeing the joy, concentration, and sense of achievement on our tamariki's faces as they explore the world through art.
