Double O had been doing a lot of rovering over the past few weeks. We attended the Valley Tour of Wellington where we went out in groups and did activities all around wellington. Later that night we attended Regals Barndance were we all learnt different line dances all dressed up in our matching cowboy outfits. On Monday we had an international cooking night, the crew split into teams and went out to buy the strangest food they could find. consisting of 1 carb, 1 protein and 1 vegetable per team. Our rovers had to cook with things such as a whole raw fish, scallops and squid. Next week we went on a night walk to the Korokoro Dam where we cooked marshmallows and made smores. This past Monday we had a performing arts night were we got to bring out our acting skills.

Over the weekend, we hosted the first-ever Double O Casino Night. We spent the day doing service at Staglands, doing everything from cleaning their cafe chairs to planting foliage in their bird sanctuaries. At 7:00 p.m., the games kicked off. We had a photo booth, blackjack, poker, pool, baccarat, roulette, pig racing, an underground snap ring, boat racing, and a pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey-like game. It was a great night of gambling with our chips. Everyone dressed up in fancy suits and dresses and enjoyed the hot savories provided throughout the night. At the end of the night, we awarded #1 Gambling Crew to the Valley Rovers, as well as #1 Gambling Rover to Keegan from Eastman. We cannot wait for next year, where it will be bigger, better, and more exciting!!!!

Last Saturday we held the 60th anniversary for our crew, we had a lunch at the den with all the past logbooks out for everyone to browse, at night we hosted a buffet dinner with all our past members for catch ups and mingling. Last Monday we hosted a fear factor night for the Belmont venturers where we blind tasted some nasty things and played fear pong. This Monday we had a gambling night where we learned how to play all the casino games we will be playing at our national event this coming Saturday.

Over the past two weeks Double O has been doing a bit of service. We spent our weekend helping out the wellington badge club setup and pack down for their event. On Monday we had some fun being taught how to play pickleball and ran a mini tournament within our crew. This past Monday we drove up to the Brookfield rover lodge to do some service, we cleared up some of their foliage and sorted their scrap metal.

Last weekend, Double O traveled down to Christchurch to attend Matariki Ball hosted by the Deans Rover Crew. We spent the first day doing service on Corfe Reserve, rolling up all the vines, clearing all the weeds and rubbish and when it was all cleared up, we planted various saplings. The second day, we all piled onto a bus and traveled around different Christchurch businesses. That night the 'Ball' aspect of the weekend began. The theme was the 'Formal Secret Garden', so naturally, OO dressed up as fruits and vegetables, blending well with everyone else's suits and dresses. We also had four rovers (including one of our own) shave their heads. We spent the Sunday morning soaking in the Christchurch hot pools to let off all our steam from the weekend. Thank you to Deans for hosting such a fun event.

OO has been quite busy recently. We spent a night learning how to make rock candy. Before the night started, our beautiful crew leader ran up the Wainuiomata hill in a chicken costume to earn his scarf back after trading it away at moot. This past Monday we had a woodworking night, learning how to safely use woodworking tools so we could make some planter boxes to donate to Brookfield. We also invested two new members into our crew.

Last week at OO we split into teams of three and spent our Monday night having a Lego team building night. For the first round we picked themes out of a hat and built to their specifications. For the second round we had one team member blind folded and the other team members had to hand them pieces and instruct them what and where to build. It was a very fun night :)
