The week that was.

Progressing well and enjoying the craft, here are a few of our favourite shots from last week.

Up close with an MG TC

“Instant get away, real staying power and lightning response to controls. The new “TC” series faithfully maintains the MG tradition”

The MG TC was produced just before WWII broke out, the MG car production was stopped to help with the war effort, repairing Matilda tanks and assembling British bomber cockpits.

Production of the TC resumed with success and more than half of the TC’s built ended up in the US.

The example in our workshop has great motorsport history throughout Australia and now spends its time on NZ roads.

Solid, safe, conservative.

This example has sat still for more than 10 years and has aged as expected. Seeing them covered in dust and not having their slumber interrupted is always cool to see.

A project car for the workshop and one that we look forward to tearing down for a light refresh…. Possibly paint and some other goodies.

The Daffodil Rally for Cancer is back for Daffodil Day 2026! 🌼

What began as a few local rallies has grown into hundreds of vintage vehicles on the road and on display across Aotearoa New Zealand, bringing together communities, families and car enthusiasts to support the 1 in 3 New Zealanders affected by cancer.

This year's rally for most locations will be held on Sunday 23 August, and everyone's welcome. Whether you're behind the wheel of a classic or just along for the ride, every dollar raised helps your local Cancer Society.

Smooth, effortless and quiet.

A lovely example of a Series III XJ6 and a great one to have here in the workshop. We are working our way through the rear end.

The independent rear end is housed within a fabricated subframe that allows it to be removed with relative ease. A brilliant design that was fitted to many Jaguar models from the likes of E-types through to S-types and XJ’s.

In my view these are a very well rounded classic. They can track along effortlessly but also put the power down when required.

The granddaddy of luxury 4wd performance.

This Range Rover classic was sat still for more than a decade and it was great to work through our recommissioning process to get this lightweight, aluminium bodied v8 machine out of the shed and back on the road.

Iconic rugged design that was produced for almost 40 years, from 69-96 making it among the longest production runs of any car model. With the first 11 years being only available in a 3 door version.

Referred to by Rover as “A car for all reasons” due to its off road capability, performance and towing capacity of 3.5tons.

Luxury is certainly relative, but it was much better than a Land Rover!
