There's a particular trap that I see often: the idea that you'll start a practice once things settle down.
Once the relationship situation is clearer. Once the health news is confirmed. Once the financial pressure eases a little. Once you have more space, more energy, more headroom to do it properly.
I understand the logic. It makes sense on the surface. But what I've witnessed, in my own life and in the lives of people I've worked with, is that it tends to work the other way.
The practice you build in the middle of difficulty is the practice that actually holds. It supports you. Because you're not building it in theory, in comfortable conditions, in a version of life that doesn't yet exist for you. You're building it in the real thing.
What is available to you in the middle of a crisis is exactly this: a way of relating to what's happening that doesn't require the circumstances to change first. That's not a small thing. That's the whole thing.
You don't need to wait. A Finding Me Conversation is a free 25-minute call, and it's a place to start — exactly where you are, with what you have right now. Link in comments. Let's talk.

You don't need to be a meditator join us.
The "Living with Heart" Meditation Day Retreat on October 31st is designed for anyone who's feeling the weight of daily life right now — the noise, the pressure, the relentless pace.
Kashmir Shaivism has a reputation for being a deep philosophical tradition. And it is. But it's also one of the most direct and accessible paths into the heart of your own experience, a place Kashmir Shaivism calls "The Heart." No experience required. No prior knowledge. Just your willingness to show up.
The day runs from 9am. We'll explore the ancient science of meditation and direct connection to the Heart — practicing a synergy of Ta***ic and Indigenous teachings, in a format that's interactive, collaborative, and genuinely welcoming.
$135 NZD. Self-catered potluck lunch. If the cost is a barrier, reach out — there are options.
Comment 'RETREAT' below and we will send you full event details.

The question most people ask after a strong spiritual experience is: what was that?
It's a natural question. Something happened that you didn't plan for, something that felt more real than ordinary life, and the mind wants to name it, categorise it, fit it somewhere.
But there's another question underneath it that I find more interesting — and more urgent.
"Who am I now?"
Because these experiences don't just happen to a person who stays the same. They arrive and something shifts. The way you see yourself, the way the world seems to hang together, the questions you carry — these change. And that change is real even when the experience itself has faded.
The tradition I work with, Kashmir Shaivism, has a name for this. It's called recognition — Pratyabhijñā — the seeing of something that was always true, which you have now glimpsed directly. What changes after this recognition isn't just that you had an experience. It's that you've seen something true. And now you carry that seeing.
If you're asking who you are now, after something happened — that question is worth following. I'd be glad to explore it with you. The Finding Me Conversation is a free 25-minute call, and it's a good place to begin.

In Kashmir Shaivism, meditation isn't an escape from what's happening in your life.
That's not what it offers, and it would be untrue to say otherwise.
What it does offer is something harder to find and far more useful: the capacity to stay present with what's happening without being overwhelmed by it. It’s about finding a place inside yourself that remains steady—even when everything on the outside is not.
When life is falling apart—when a relationship ends, a health crisis arrives, or a career collapses—the mind naturally goes to war with reality.
Meditation doesn't end that war by force. It simply gives you a different place to stand.
This is exactly why the Conscious Pathways YouTube channel has been created. It is specifically for you. I wanted you to have a dedicated space where you can directly explore the problems you are facing, work through your real-world challenges, and deepen your understanding of meditation using the practical teachings and direct methods of Kashmir Shaivism. This space was built for your practice, your growth, and your sovereignty in spiritual practice.
If you are ready to step past surface-level mindfulness and experience a Heart-Centered path to self-knowledge and Consciousness, this channel is for you. Let's actively work with these ancient non-dual practices to transform how we navigate modern life together.
👇 Let’s open up the space below: What is the biggest challenge or friction point you face right now when trying to stay present in messy moments? Let me know in the comments.

If you're going through something hard right now, the last thing you need is someone telling you to meditate for forty minutes a day.
So I won't say that.
What I will say is this: a practice doesn't have to be large to be real. It doesn't have to be consistent in the way people imagine consistency when life is working. In a difficult season, consistency might mean three minutes of sitting before you get out of bed. It might mean one breath taken slowly in the middle of the afternoon. It might mean coming back to your body for thirty seconds when you notice the mind has gone somewhere unhelpful.
These things matter. They accumulate. They build the capacity that makes the harder work possible later.
The tradition I work with has a long understanding of practice under pressure. What it says, essentially, is: start where you are, with what you have, in the time you can find. Don't wait for the circumstances to be better. They may not be for a while. And the good news is: Things can always change.
If you'd like to begin somewhere concrete, Entering the Heart — my short online program, $11 — is a meditation from Kashmir Shaivism that you can do anywhere, in a short sitting. It's not a commitment. It's a door.

The experience fades. That's almost always what happens.
That opening — whatever it was — becomes a memory. Ordinary life comes back. And there can be a grief in that, a feeling that you've lost something you were only briefly allowed to hold.
Here's what I want to offer from the tradition: the fading is not a loss of the real thing. The real thing is still there. What's changed is your access to it — and access is something you can cultivate.
In Kashmir Shaivism, the recognition of our essential nature as Consciousness isn't meant to be a one-time event. It's meant to become the steady ground of our experience. The teachings exist precisely to help that opening deepen from a moment into a way of being.
If you've had an experience that has faded and you don't want to just let it go, that impulse is right. It deserves to be followed. Entering the Heart, my short online program, is a meditation from the tradition of Kashmir Shaivism focused on exactly this — returning to the Heart-Space, again and again, until it becomes home.
$11 — begin today.

Most modern meditation approaches are, at root, about the management of experience.
Reduce stress. Increase focus. Cultivate calm. These are real and valuable things. But they operate within a certain frame — the practitioner as someone who manages their inner life from a position slightly outside it. This is what Nick Kientsch and I discuss in our YouTube conversation: "Meditation, Madness, or Awakening? Exploring the Dark Side of Mindfulness." Link to the video in the comments.
Modern meditation can seem to offer ways to manage your life, to step out of inner challenges and difficulties. Kashmir Shaivism offers something different.
The tradition isn't interested in managing experience. It's interested in recognising the nature of experience — what it is, where it comes from, and what the practitioner actually is in relationship to it. This is not a subtle distinction. It changes everything about the practice.
When students who have been meditating for years encounter this shift, the plateau often breaks. Not because they've found a new technique, but because they've changed what they're doing when they sit. A new level of acceptance enters their practice. And this changes everything.
If you've been at this for a while and sense that what you've been working with has a ceiling, I'd be glad to talk about what it might look like to go further. That's exactly the kind of conversation the Finding Me Conversation is for.
