North Canterbury food rescue charity redistributing surplus food from local retailers & growers to co

Satisfy Food Rescue was established in 2014 by a group of like minded people from Waikuku Beach, Rangiora and Kaiapoi, all who have a passion for caring for the environment and providing nutritious food to those who are struggling to get it. Food rescue is basically where food is rescued from food retailers and growers and redistributed to charities who work with people in need. A simple concept but actual follow through requires a lot of organisation and inputs! Satisfy aims to work collaboratively with local communities and charities so that food that was otherwise destined for landfill or animal feed is distributed to those in the community who really need it.

Kia ora! It’s Te Wiki o te Reo Maori 2026, and we’re delighted to be participating in the celebration of te Reo Maori.

We believe small, consistent actions have the power to build big momentum! In the spirit of the week, we’d love to share a few (small) things we do around Satisfy to honor and engage with te Reo Maori:

🧡 email salutations in reo
💛 morning office greetings in reo
🖤 karakia to kickstart and close meetings
🤍 using the most common te reo vernacular as often as possible in conversation
🎯 most importantly, we put aside the fear of getting it wrong, and we give it a go! 🤗

If you see any of our team out and about, we welcome the use of te reo Maori

Kia kaha te Reo Maori!
