Research shows that 75% of all health problems can be linked to tension and stress.

Reflexology treats the whole person, body, mind and spirit to induce a state of harmony and balance, it helps to promote well being and may increase energy, stimulating the body’s own potential to heal both physically and emotionally. Reflexology is a complementary health therapy based on the principal that points on the feet and hands are linked to energy pathways corresponding to all glands, organs and parts of the body. When these parts are stressed beyond their tolerance due to illness, injury or disease these communication pathways can get blocked and they stop functioning properly which in turn impairs the health of your body. Reflexology allows the body to attain balance both physical and emotional and help normalise its functions. At ‘Feetfirst’ you will be able to sit back, relax and enjoy the benefits that Reflexology can bring, surrounded by gentle calming music and a beautiful garden. Each treatment is structured to the needs of the client, so each treatment is totally personalised and tailored to your individual needs and concerns. Just some of the benefits of Reflexology.....

This week’s Health Tip….

16/09/2026

The feet may be where reflexology begins, but they are rarely the whole story.
One of the things people often find so interesting about reflexology is that such a focused treatment can feel like it reaches much further.
Not because the feet are doing all the work on their own, but because the body works as one connected system.
When the nervous system begins to settle, other things can start to shift too. Breathing may soften.
The mind may quieten. Digestion may feel less sluggish. Circulation may improve. Sleep may come a little easier. The whole person often feels the benefit, not just the feet on the couch.
That doesn't mean reflexology is a cure-all, and it shouldn't be presented as one. But it can be a powerful complementary therapy - one that gives the body a chance to slow down, regulate and respond in its own way.
That's why a reflexology session may begin with the feet, but the deepest impact is often felt elsewhere. 👣🌻

The wellness space can be... loud.
There's always something new to try, something to fix, something to optimise.
More routines. More rules. More pressure to
"do it right."
But not everything that works has to shout.
Reflexology takes a different approach. It's not about pushing your body harder or layering on more. It's about working with it - gently, intentionally, and at a pace your system can actually respond to.
No overwhelm. No extremes.
Just subtle, steady support that builds over time.
And sometimes, that's exactly what's needed.

We often talk about how reflexology feels - calming, grounding, restorative.
But what's happening underneath that?
A double-blind randomised controlled trial (the gold standard in research) looked at what happens in the body during a reflexology session.
Researchers measured real-time cardiovascular responses in healthy volunteers and found:
• Immediate changes in haemodynamics (how blood flows through the body)
V A measurable effect on cardiac function, specifically the cardiac index
• Effects observed during targeted reflexology on foot areas linked to the heart
In simple terms?
This wasn't just "feeling relaxed" — the body showed objective, physiological changes in real time.
It's a powerful reminder that touch therapies like reflexology can have measurable impacts beyond relaxation alone.

Did you know... The curves of your feet reflect the curves of your spine.

In reflexology, the term 'reflex' refers to a reflection of the body on to both feet. The left side of the body mirrored on to the left foot, and the right side on to the right foot.
This information is already intriguing, but it's the fact that there's a reflection of the spine on the inner arches of both feet that often blows people's minds. Particularly when there is a rather obvious difference between both sides of the torso that is as obviously mirrored on to the arches of the feet.

I bet you're looking at your feet now.

Chat to your reflexologist about this next time you have a session.
And if you have never had reflexology, then maybe now is a good time.👣🌻

I know winter is almost over and spring is definitely in the air, but there’s still a lot of flu and respiratory issues around, so it’s still important to look after ourselves.
