DSR. Grant Hi, I'm Grant; the old rocker who runs Drum Set Rescue. (Usually my all-up cost price.) Soon after, they are listed on Facebook Marketplace.

My non-profit retirement hobby is rescuing, then either refreshing or refurbishing & customising, old drums as attractive, reliable, & often unique, drum sets specifically for young learner/intermediate drummers, as their 1st or 2nd drum kit. DSR is my non-profit retirement hobby aimed at providing refreshed or refurbished/customised drum sets for young beginners at a reasonable price. My completed sets are usually very popular and most sell within a day or two of listing. In-progress project sets are often highlighted on Drum Set Rescue to give followers and prospective buyers an early chance to see what's coming up. Completed project sets are initially show-cased on DSR, so that followers can have an early opportunity to buy for the bargain price. "Refreshed" - This is where the drum wraps or lacquer finish are in what I consider to be an acceptable condition. They will generally have been partially stripped and cleaned before reassembly with new, near new, or good used parts wherever appropriate. "Refurbished" - These drums have been completely stripped down to bare shells. The lugs, rods, mounts, hoops, etc., have all been soaked, polished, and waxed. The drum shells have been re-wrapped in vinyl before being reassembled as a customised drum set - again using new, near new, or good used parts wherever appropriate. I prefer that most drum sets to go to new young drummers, but will sometimes sell a better set to an intermediate-level drummer. I have a few rules to keep myself sane and safe. Rules, Terms & Conditions of Sales
1. Timely and open communication is key to a smooth sale. So please respond to messages promptly, or the set you're after may be sold to someone who is a better communicator.
2. Unless a clearly agreed time/date/price has been confirmed, I will not hold a set.
3. Face-to-face Cash Sales Only!
4. Pickup is in Wanganui. Actual address details will generally only be provided by text message or verbal discussion.

The woolshed Woodstocks are looking a lot better after a good scrubbing. I have done a lot of hardware soaking and polishing and swapped out a lot of rusty bits for better bits.

I will start reassembly soon, but am still waiting on a few parts to arrive so can have it finished next week. 🤞

Woolshed Woodstock!
This will be a cheapie! The black wraps look to be ok under the dust and debris, so we won't be rewrapping it.

So if you have a young drummer wanting a beginner set, this one should tidy up ok. But it may take a week or two as it needs a lot a scrubbing and a few hardware repairs and replacements.

Let me know if you're keen.

The Drumpus got the Blues! (I might write the song!)

It was quite unintended; it just happened that way.

My own Gretsch Catalina Club that lives in the corner, a rewrapped Pearl Target in the other corner and the latest almost completed project up front is a MIJ Tama Imperial Star.

It'll be nice to do a different colour, however my next project, the Hayman drums sitting in the store cupboard are Midnight Blue!

A peek inside the DSR Drumpus Room.

We've been here 7 months now and just about got the room in order. No more room for rack storage, but we have plenty of cupboard space for extra drums and hardware. Can always find room for more though ... without becoming a hoarder! 😄

We also have a dedicated "cleaning room" with a scrub tub, ultrasonic cleaner, and a parts dryer (a repurposed oven). So pretty much everything we need. The obsolete clothesline outside the door is great for hanging newly painted bits.

We've met lots of drummers and other musicians since we've been in Thames, many of whom have kindly donated drums and parts to help keep us going.

We're always pleased to make new muso mates, so please let us know if you're in the area and you're most welcome to pop in.
THANKS! 🥁🥁🥁
Grant and Karen.

Almost ready for a lucky beginner drummer; this will be the next set to be released within the next few days from the Drum Set Rescue Drumpus Room.

A real sharp looking 5 piece set newly rewrapped in Fire Red - and if the snare is any indication, it's gonna sound as great as it looks!

Let me know if it might be the set for you.

Hi everyone.
Well we're right back into the swing of rescuing unwanted/unloved drum sets - and have drums and prospective owners of refurbished sets lined up and waiting for our attention.

We've upgraded our storage, our cleaning room, and work station to make things more comfortable and efficient. The Drumpus has been a little cool over the winter, but we have a booked a heat pump installation to sort that out.

BUT ...... our biggest problem currently ...... is PARTS!
We are in dire need of:
~ Entry level cymbals - and
~ Good used drum heads.
Please let me know if you can help.
Grant
