Timaru District Libraries

Get ready to spring in to action at Geraldine Library with the last of our School Holiday calendars!
The first week is epic, with stories and a fantastic detective bear craft! And on Friday there is a camera and film reel to decorate to make your spy story come to life!

In the second week, get the kids really in the secret agent mood by creating a hidden characters collage! (So awesome!) End the week with stupendous detective themed games and some clue finding activities.

Temuka Library has a jam packed school holiday programme!
On the first Wednesday the kids can have a go at a range of Secret Agent activities and play Secret Agent bingo. On Thursday, they get to learn how to create different codes.
In the second week, there is the Secret Agent Scavenger Hunt to be attempted by willing agents and on Thursday the library's STEM technology will be out!

Let's take a closer look at Timaru Children's Library calendar. 🔎

The first day of the holidays is a Tuesday and we have a cracker! The kids can come and create their own 🤫 Secret Decoder Wheel! 🤫 (So brilliant!).
On Thursday, they can come along and test their knowledge of codes AND their skills at decoding them.

In the second week, they'll get to make a special magnifying glass that helps show a hidden message on Monday. (So cool!). And then on Tuesday the kids get to create their very own Secret Agent identity!!!
The Super Story Monday storytime will have secret agents or spy themed books so feel free to dress the kids in disguise! We will be investigating fingerprints on Wednesday and how different they all are.
F.Y.I : Did you know that even identical twins have different fingerprint patterns?

And definitely don't forget to register for it either!

Timaru Library is hosting a Living Library event on Tuesday 8th September at 5.00pm, and we would love you to be a part of it!

A Living Library is a unique event where people become “books” and are “borrowed’ for conversations. These Human Books share their personal stories, experiences, or perspectives, creating a safe space for dialogue, understanding, and connection.

To register your interest in being a 'reader', you need to either contact [email protected] or phone Timaru Library on 03 68 77202.

And check out the Welcoming Week page on the Timaru District Council website for a full list of activities!
