A central Community Hub for young people and their whānau based in Upper Hutt. We have called it UHub UHub takes a whole community approach to education.

UHub is a hub in Upper Hutt for every child from birth through to 12 years of age and their whānau. Our community knows that when we invest early in young people, empowering them and their whānau, it will clear the path to a positive future: para he huarahi ki te pora. UHub empowers whānau, early childhood, schools, our marae and iwi, agencies and business to think and act and work in different ways. In ways that are more collaborative and that uses scarce resources more efficiently and equitably. A whole community learning and working together to give all children a great start. When young people do well, the whole community does well.

💛 Sometimes, you just need a space to talk.

Especially when you’re wondering how your child is doing and what might help.

Megan from Atareira offers parents and caregivers a calm, supportive space to talk about their child’s emotional wellbeing, worries, or how they’re coping. Together, you can talk things through, explore what might be helpful, and consider possible next steps for your whānau.

🌱 Sometimes, a conversation is a great place to start.

📞 Phone kōrero with Megan are available on Thursday mornings during term time.

Bookings are required and can be made via our website: www.uhub.org.nz

💛 Want to keep the kōrero going?

If you’re a parent or caregiver who joined one of our From Surviving to Thriving 'Empower U' sessions and would like to talk a little more about your child’s strengths, challenges, ADHD, or ways you can support them, come and have a 'U Connect' kōrero with our UHub team.

It’s a chance to have a one-to-one conversation, ask questions, share what’s been happening, and explore what might help, no pressure, just a chance to kōrero.

Still feeling very grateful for this special moment. 💛

UHub was named Runner Up in the Upper Hutt Education & Child/Youth Development Award as part of the Wellington Airport Regional Community Awards, and we’re incredibly proud to see the mahi of our UHub community recognised.

At the heart of UHub are our UHubbers, who bring the kaupapa to life every day, connecting with whānau and educators, sharing knowledge, creating spaces for kōrero and helping make the path a little clearer.

And alongside them is our amazing volunteer Board, who give their time, experience and heart to guide, support and champion UHub and the kaupapa we care so much about. 💛

We’re grateful to all the whānau, schools and places of learning, community partners, funders and supporters who have been part of the UHub journey, whether you’ve joined an Empower U session, had a kōrero with us, welcomed us into your place of learning, or supported our mahi in other ways.

We’re proud to be doing this mahi with and for our Upper Hutt community. 🌱

What a wonderful morning we had at Fergusson Intermediate School today! 🩷 Even the weather was determined to join us trying its hardest to give everyone a second shower! ☔️😄

It was so lovely to see whānau and educators come together, share kōrero and explore the unique ways children and young people with ADHD | Aroreretini think, learn and experience the world.

We hope you left with a few “aha” moments, something that made you think a little differently, and some practical ideas you can take back to your whānau . 🌿

A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful hosts, Simon Kenny & Fiona Derham and their Fergusson Intermediate team, for welcoming UHub into your school and helping create such a warm space for whānau.

And a huge thank you to our UHubbers, Learning Support Coordinators and RTLB team for sharing their time, knowledge and kōrero with us today.

If you missed us today, or you’d like to connect a little more with our UHub team, we’ll be at the Upper Hutt City Library on Monday 21 September for one-on-one kōrero. Book your spot at www.uhub.org.nz

We’d love to see you there. 💛
