What would your front desk and pharmacy look like if the queue and the stock count actually talked to each other? That's DoseLink, our newest R&D venture: an ERP built for medical centres, live now.

These six screens are pulled straight from the running app: a patient checks in, gets slotted into a care pathway, and moves department to department through a live queue. Finish a Pharmacy step and the stock count updates itself, nobody has to count boxes later to find out what's missing. Point of sale and a customisable printed receipt are part of it too.

See all six screens and the full story: https://devpanda.co.nz/insights/inside-doselink-2026?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=insight_inside_doselink_2026&utm_content=facebook_post_screens&utm_term=doselink

Running a café, restaurant, or retail counter? We build PandaKiosk (self-service ordering) and RewardsApp (digital loyalty), and both are ready to use right now.

Might be a fit if:

✅ You want customers ordering without queuing at the till
✅ Your regulars deserve a simple loyalty card, not a spreadsheet or a paper one that gets lost
✅ You want production-ready software now, not a six-month custom build
✅ You'd rather add AI later, once it's proven, than pay for a feature you don't need yet

There's a version of this story in almost every business we walk into. A job that used to take a week now takes three. A small change breaks something unrelated. The release needs the one person who happens to be on leave. Nobody can explain it in a sentence, so it goes down as "things are busy".

That's technical debt, and it has a price. 62% of developers told Stack Overflow it's the biggest frustration of their week. CIOs, asked by McKinsey, reckon it's worth 20-40% of their entire technology estate.

Four things that genuinely help:
· Track how much of each month goes to unplanned work. That number is your interest rate.
· Fix the debt standing in front of your next project, not the ugliest debt.
· Make maintenance a standing 10-20% of every cycle, not a cleanup project. Projects get cancelled when things get busy, and busy is when debt piles up fastest.
· Keep a calendar of end-of-support dates. Windows 10 support ended on 14 October 2025, and plenty of businesses found out the hard way.

What's the system in your business that everyone tiptoes around?

Quick one for anyone running a dev team, or paying one to build something for you.

A randomized trial on experienced developers using AI coding tools found they were 19% slower, not faster, and still walked away thinking AI had sped them up by 20%. Separately, testing across 100+ AI models found a security flaw in 45% of the code they generated.

The takeaway isn't "don't use AI." It's that speed was never the only number that mattered. A few things worth doing:
• Review every AI-generated diff like it's a junior dev's pull request
• Run security scans on AI-touched code, not just new files
• Keep AI off the logic your business actually depends on
• Measure what shipped and stayed fixed, not lines generated

We break down the full 2026 data in our latest insight: https://devpanda.co.nz/insights/ai-coding-agents-2026?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=insight_ai_coding_agents_2026&utm_content=facebook_post_checklist&utm_term=ai-code-quality

Most businesses we talk to are using AI somewhere. Very few can tell us what it's earned them.

That's not a criticism, and the data says it's normal. Around 88% of enterprises and 68% of small firms are using AI in some form, but only 39% report any measurable financial impact. Only about 6% are getting real results.

Usually what's happened is this. Someone found a tool that saves them twenty minutes. Someone else found a different one. All genuine, all small, and none of it changes how the job gets done, so the twenty minutes just quietly fills up with something else.

What seems to work better:

• Fix one whole process rather than sprinkling tools across five
• Agree the rules for AI use before it's everywhere, not after something goes wrong
• Build it into the systems your team already opens every day
• Pick one number you'd expect to move, and check honestly whether it did

Where's AI actually saving you time at the moment, if anywhere?

Try this. Google something your business does, and look at what sits above the results.

There's a good chance Google now writes the answer itself, and your customer never scrolls past it. Pew Research found people click a website 8% of the time when an AI summary is showing, compared with 15% when it isn't.

That's the part that catches people out. Your search rankings can look exactly as healthy as last year while the visits quietly halve.

Four things worth doing:

• Put real specifics on your site, prices, process, timeframes, actual numbers
• Answer the questions customers ask, using the words they use
• Get the technical basics right so machines can read your pages properly
• Check where your traffic is actually coming from now

SEO isn't finished. It just stopped being only about position.

When did you last search for your own business and look at what came up first?

Kiwi businesses lost $26.9m to cybercrime last year, and the biggest single driver in the last quarter was business email compromise. Someone emails your accounts person pretending to be a supplier, the bank details change, the money goes.

There's a lot of noise right now about AI making hackers unstoppable. Honestly, that's not what the evidence shows. The scams hitting small businesses are the same ones from five years ago. AI just made them cheaper to send in bulk and a bit tidier to read.

Four things worth doing this month:

• Turn on multi-factor authentication everywhere, starting with email
• Ring to confirm any change to payment details, using a number you already had
• Keep an offline backup, and actually test restoring from it
• Write down what staff can and can't paste into AI tools

None of that is expensive. All of it beats buying a product because a headline scared you.

What would happen at your place if an invoice came through with new bank details today?
