Supporting New Zealand’s veterans and their families, the RSA provides care, advocacy, and welfare through initiatives like the Poppy Trust.

We are also a welcoming community hub, with our hall available for local events and functions.

Important Update from the Tawa RSA

At a recent Special General Meeting, members voted by more than 75% in favour of selling the Tawa RSA Clubrooms and Bowling Green.

This was a difficult decision, driven by the increasing cost of operating and maintaining the Clubrooms and Community Hub, and the need to ensure the long-term future of the Association.

While our premises may change, the Tawa RSA Association is here to stay.

For decades, our Clubrooms have been much more than an RSA. Originally home to the Tawa Flats Badminton Club, they later hosted dancing, karate, dog training, community groups, businesses and many other activities. We are incredibly proud of the role the Club has played in our community.

As we move forward, our focus remains clear:

* Remembrance
* Supporting veterans and their families
* Advocacy

We look forward to continuing to deliver Anzac Day, Remembrance Sunday, Purple Poppy Day and other activities that honour service and support our veteran community.

Following settlement of the sale, the majority of the proceeds will be placed into a dedicated trust. The investment returns will support veterans, their families, Tawa RSA members and the wider Tawa community. We will share further details once the trust arrangements have been finalised.

In the meantime, it's business as usual. The Club remains open, and we look forward to continuing to welcome members, community groups and organisations during this transition.

Thank you for your continued support as we begin the next chapter of the Tawa RSA.

Together, we will continue our mission of Remembrance • Support • Advocacy.

Phil Harland is our oldest member and a Korean veteran. Today some of our members, supported by two members from Masterton RSA, held a small service to honour him and all Korean veterans, at the WW11 memorial hall in Masterton

Today, on the Anniversary of the Korean War, we honour the service and sacrifice of all those who served in Korea and remember those who never returned.

A special acknowledgement goes to Tawa RSA member and veteran Phil Harland, who served in both the Second World War and the Korean War. Although Phil is no longer able to travel to official commemorations, today he will lay a wreath at the Masterton Cenotaph in remembrance of his comrades and mates with whom he served.

For many years, Phil has faithfully attended commemorative services, ensuring that the legacy of those who served in the Second World War and the Korean War is never forgotten. Today, as Phil remembers his fallen mates, we acknowledge not only his enduring commitment to remembrance but also his distinguished service across two conflicts.

Thank you, Phil, for your service and for continuing to honour those who stood alongside you all those years ago. Your service and sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Lest We Forget.
